Question about Computers & Internet
1. the cpu may be running to hot.. do you hear a fan going on when you start your system?: as soon as you see the compaq message press f2 (I'm not sure if that's the key.. usually it's indicated at the bottom of the compaq screen then try to go into the the cmos/bios program and look for temperture information on your cpu... should be below 50 ...
2. it could also be a virus: did you install something recently?...
3. it could be a hardware problem.. did you install new memory recently.. try removing the new memory stick.
4. laptops are hard to troubleshoot so you may want to take the computer for service or get in contact with HP's representative online or over the phone, they may give you more pointer of what you can try or what you can do.
any other approach that you may take may require for you to get get the hard drive out to back up you data using the drive in another computer (may need to get an adapter or a enclosure with usb adapter but is possible) then reinstall os with the revorey partition that may still be avaliable by pressing and f key as directed also in the first compaq screen that you get to see.
