Hi,

The most likely reason is the float switch (anti-flood protection system) has been tripped and the noise you can hear is the drain pump running continuously despite the washer being empty. If this noise continues even with the door open, it's definitely the float switch. This could be a faulty switch, a stuck float, or water may have leaked into the bottom of the machine below the tub.

It would help if you could specify a model number as the flood-protection components vary between models. If you don't know the model number, you should be able to find it laser-etched at the top of the stainless-steel inner door.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please specify a model number and whether the washer seems to be "running" with the door open.

Regards, BElectric

same problem with model SHV57C03UC/46, how do you check the float switch?

  • Anonymous Jul 21, 2012

I seem to have a similar problem, I've posted here:http://www.fixya.com/support/t10108197-b...

I can post it here again: my dishwasher (SHX43CO5UC) wouldn't stop, I smelled burned circuit, I followed this example and did find a the solder in question. I've seemed to fix it, now at least the ON/OFF button works, I can at least turn off the dishwasher, previously, it wouldn't even stop when I open the door. Now that I did the new soldering spot, I started the dishwasher, but it's not doing much, just a humming noise, but then nothing happens, no water, no movement, the soap is still in the dispenser. do you think I forgot to plug something back on? Do I need a new control unit ?

SOURCE: I have A BOSCH SGS56A72 dishwasher As I turn the unit on, it sounds like the dishwasher is starting but no water is being dispensed. It makes this sound when I open the door - anybody any ideas?

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to work when it is commanded .If this does not happen then the voltage at these points must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage/drive from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Check how to remove the control panel: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1287/how-to-replace-a-hotpoint-dishwasher-fascia-p.html

If the water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor. The water pressure must be good and the spraying must be seen to be good. If there is low pumping or pressure then the spray arms will not turn around to inject with pressure. If so the pump must be checked for clogging.

To replace check this link:

Very Loud Noise when dishwasher starts

It is likely the sound is coming from the rinse aid dispenser solenoid. (I am assuming you do not have a water softener unit on your dishwasher). Try to run the drawer on a Rinse cycle and see if the noise is still coming.

I have Asko D3350 dishwasher and the Detergent dispenser does not open. We were told to remove the whole dispenser and soak it in water but how do i remove it?

to remove the dispenser is not a 30 second job. You have to remove the door front with a T20 (torx) screwdriver (don't forget the 2 screws in the middle of the door at the bottom) Then you can get to the screws that hold the dispenser in place. Make sure you remove the solenoid from the dispenser BEFORE soaking in water. A more likely issue is either the solenoid on the dispenser has failed and will show signs of burning and/or damage or one of the transistors on the control board may have blown.

Glasses have a film when dishwasher is done.

There are several things that could cause this; 1. The rinse agent dispenser is out of rinse agent(Jet Dry). 2. The dispenser is not working and is easy to replace by removing the four screws that hold the door panel on and the two that removes the dispenser(be sure the breaker is turned-off). 3. The water temperature coming into the unit from the water-heater is not hot enough. 4.Your water may need to be tested for excessive minerals or chemicals. 5. Low grade detergent may not dissolve correctly.

Dirty dishes

If you have a water softener, you should use about half the recommended amount of soap. Never use a wet or paste detergent. As mentioned before, this unit should be under warranty.

Detergent stays in the dispenser

Clean and dry your dispenser prior to filling with detergent.
Use only fresh detergent.
Do not place anything ie. cookie sheets, cutting boards in the path of the water obstructing the dispenser.
Do not allow anything to fall between the racks and stop the spray arms from turning.
Always turn the hot water on at the sink prior to starting you dishwasher they use less than 2 gallonsof water in the initial cycle and they require 120 deg f water. Unless you have hot water recirculation in your home.
If you have low water volume or low water pressure due to bad impellor or windings in circulation pump. The water volume or pressure will be insuficient to reach the dispenser.
