There are a few possible reasons for the screen to be dark. I assume you have waited until the second ring before answering to allow the information to be transmitted and have Caller ID from your provider. First, replace the batteries. Next, check the contrast by pressing Menu twice. Use the Left or Right arrows to change the Contrast level (the lightest level is 1 and the darkest is 5). If you see no change in the contrast, the LCD has failed. If the phone is under warranty, contact Uniden. Otherwise, it\'s probably better to replace the phone.
Dialing the 8 numbers should not cause a problem.I have a few suggestions, you may have tried a couple already.Hang up the problem phone on the base unit for about 30 seconds. If that does not help, remove the battery for a few seconds and try the 30 second hang up again.Try unplugging the base unit for a half minute.I am trying to get it to reset itself and link to the base.Is the second phone part of this system too?We had a Uniden and I personally thought it ended up being garbage and will probably never buy another one.If you end up deciding to buy a new phone, the new technology is DECT 6.0 and is supposed to have better range from the base, clearer sound to name a few things. The strange thing about it is that it operates at 1.9 GHz.Also,if you decide on a new one, google DECT phones. There are all kinds of forums about peoples opinions/ratings of ones they have bought and used for a period of time.If you have any questions, just comment on this post and I will get an auto email saying you posted.Good luck! Greg
I am guessing you have a DECT WXI2077, If there is a popping sound coming from the charger I would disconnect it. You can call Uniden Customer Service at 1800 297-1023 and they will send you a new charger if you have a receipt showing the phone was purchased less then a year ago.
All four phones showed "Out of Range" I unpluged the main phone - the one with the telephone hook up. I left it unpluged for a few minutes, plugged it in and IT WORKED> Thanks for your interest in helping me.
We've had the same problem with our new Uniden phone. Sounds like someone's on the other line - no dial tone and answering machine doesn't work. The telephone line works though because we plugged our old phone in and it works fine. Any solutions anyone?
I searched for ages before I found the solution to this. Just plug the 2nd handset into the base station as though you were charging it. You'll see the red light in front flicker for a few seconds. Wait five seconds after it goes solid red again and remove it. Press the "find phone" button on the front of the base station. If both phones beep, you're all set. If not, rinse and repeat.

This sounds like the register-deregister problem elsewhere on this page. Try holding down the "end" and "#" buttons for about 6 seconds to deregister the phones and then reregister them.
I had this problem too and it worked for me.
