You need to open outlook,
Click Tools --> Accounts (Sometimes Services)
Highlight the account and click properties or change
Now look at the advanced settings --> there is an option to delete emails from the server which you have to set to stop repeat downloads. Set tis to 5 days as your ISP is set to keep for 4 days.

As you have not set this value each time outlook tries to download any emails left on the server,

thanks HPC

All old emails 11000 of them keep being loaded. unable to recieve new email.Connection to server ok.

I am assuming you are using Outlook Express or Office Outlook.
If you are trying to setup an account on a new pc or on a different computer will automatically load your mail from off of the server your mail account is on, there is no real getting around that. there is a way to save your self the trouble though. You can back up your current account on the previous PC and import that back up file to the new pc with your Outlook you are trying to setup and it should reconcile with your server and should stop the upload of 11000 messages. Please let me know if this fixed your problem or if you need further instruction on how to do this process.

Troubleshooting FAQs

IMPORTANT NOTE TO AOL, MSN, COMPUSERVE AND SBC ISP USERS:
If you are using the built-in browser provided by your ISP, you will NOT see My Mail Signature or your toolbar. They do not work with the built-in browser. Instead, you MUST:

1) Launch Internet Explorer 5.01 or above from your desktop. (Don't have it? Download here.)
2) Find your browser toolbar - it will have either a "My Web Search" or "My Way Search" logo.
To use My Mail Signature in email: My Mail Signature works with Outlook, Outlook Express, AOL Mail 9.0, IncrediMail (using IE 5.5 or above), and with most web-based email platforms (using IE 5.01 or above), including the rich-text Editor version of MSN Hotmail. (To learn more, click here.)

How do I know if my version of My Mail Signature is compatible with Outlook or Outlook Express?

To check that My Mail Signature is compatible with your Outlook or Outlook Express email platform, you will need to do the following:

1) Open a new browser (Internet Explorer 5.01 and above only).

2) Locate your browser toolbar - it will have either a "My Web Search" or "My Way Search" logo - and click the down arrow to the immediate right of the My Web Search/My Way Search logo (far left side of the toolbar).

3) Select "My Web Search Version" or "My Way Search Version". A small window should appear with the version of your toolbar. Check that it says Version: 1, 1, 1, 0 or higher. (Click here to see a picture)

You can also check by opening a Compose/New Mail screen using your email system. My Mail Signature is compatible if you see the navigation bar (with My Signature button) in the Compose/New Mail screen. If you don't see it, first close your email system, open it again, and check for the navigation bar.

How do I know if my version of My Mail Signature is compatible with AOL Mail 9.0 or IncrediMail?
If you downloaded My Mail Signature on or after 3/11/04, it will be compatible with both IncrediMail and AOL Mail 9.0. (Note: You must be using IE 5.5 or above.)
If you downloaded My Mail Signature prior to 3/11/04, you will likely need to upgrade to the latest version of My Mail Signature. (It's free.)

I use Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm, or similar firewall/proxy software and am having trouble downloading My Mail Signature. Why?

The most common problem when downloading or installing My Mail Signature occurs when running such software. If you are running one of these types of products, try temporarily disabling it, then go back to http://www.mymailsignature.com to try the download process again. You can reactivate your firewall/proxy software once the download and installation of the toolbar and My Mail Signature is complete.

Why can't I see My Mail Signature - or the toolbar - on my browser?

If you have downloaded My Mail Signature and are not seeing the My Signature button or the toolbar on your browser, you may need to enable the toolbar through your browser's menu. To do this:
1) Click on the "View" menu option.
2) Select "Toolbars".
3) You will see either "My Web Search" or "My Way Search" listed in the dropdown - make sure that there is a check mark next to it. If there is no check mark, click on the toolbar name in order to enable it.

If the toolbar DOES have a check mark but is not visible on your browser, clear the check mark by clicking on the name of the toolbar. Then repeat the steps above to re-enable it. The toolbar should now appear.

Getting Windows mail to work on a new computer

For 1) it sounds like you have the "leave messages on server" option ticked. Check this by:
  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Select Tools/Accounts.
  3. Click on the Mail tab, highlight Your Account and click on the Properties button.
  4. Click on the Advanced tab.
  5. In the Delivery section, check the checkbox "Leave of copy of messages on server".
  6. if already unticked then you need to go into the web interface of your email provider and make sure they haven't got a similar option their end.
For 2) You need to set up some rules
  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Select Tools/Message Rules/Mail
  3. Specify how you want it to handle each email using the tick boxes

When I open my Microsoft outlook express and try to retrieve messages it says some of the files is corrupt and with that I can download messages and can also send message. Please help

outlook express is a free MS program, uninstall the one you have, and re-install a fresh copy.

Make sure you write down all your settings first, by clicking on tools, accts, mail tab, your email acct name, then properties over on the right

copy the info down frm the general tab, more settings at the bottom right, then the servers tab, and finally, the advanced tab at the top right.

You can google download outlook express to get the link, install it, and set it up with the settings from the old one. by clicking toos, accts, email tab, add, and add your acct info back in.

wallah, problems should be all gone

Received e-mail has stuck during download

Quickest and best solution is to your your ISP's webmail to delete the email causing the problem. (or move it somewhere else so it won't be downloaded).

You haven't given any detail about who your provider is, so i'll just give you an example.

If you were an Optus cable internet customer in Australia, you could go to http://webmail.optusnet.com.au and log in there. You'll need to find your ISP's webmail URL on their website (or call them), then you can read and delete the email that's causing your hangups... the rest of them will come down after that.

Sounds like Outlook Express is set to read the headings only. If you click on it it should open. Unless your drive is full.

You can install Windows Live Mail and it will upgrade your e-mail in Outlook Express to the new program. The download is free and available at Microsoft.com.

As far as the D drive goes, you should change some of your program settings to put files on the C drive. If you loaded up programs on your D drive, unistall them and load them to you C drive.

There might be some folders you can copy from the D to C drive but if it is a program, it will no longer work properly. Use your best judgement when dragging and dropping them from one drive to the other.

You have your Camera Wiz set as your default cd reader.  I don't know anything about that program but you need to turn it off.  Probably in the program "options" or "settings".
