Great solutions. You can also try looking up your sound card model under "Devices" in the control panel. Then go to the website of the company that makes the sound card (google them) and look for update patches to be installed. This may also solve your problem.

Then go to control panel, system ,hardware ,device manager option
There if u find any question mark or exclamation mark in yellow Color that means sound drivers are not installed properly
please reinstall sound drivers properly

or else

In control panel , select sound audio devices open it there u have
volume,sounds,audio,voice,hardware options

1)See whether it is mute
2)In audio option select default audio device and recording device
should be same

this should solve u r problem .if it is not solved please let me know u r problem briefly

or else put the model number and brand name followed by drivers search in

Last night my computer had sound and now the is no sound i dont know how to fic it i went to the control panel and everything looks fine from there but when i try to play a movie ir a song NOTHING! HELP! ...

Make sure your audio is not muted, go to audio control panel and check for any problem.

If not muted, try to run the SYSTEM RESTORE (for Windows Operating System), go to START, choose ACCESSORIES, choose SYSTEM TOOLS, choose SYSTEM RESTORE and choose previous date your computer have sound.

Dimension 4700 my headphones work fine but i cant

Are you have the headphones and speakers both pluged in? When you plug in headphones the speakers get muted. You need to change your sound settings back to your sound card if you use usb headphones. The plug on the front of the 4700 also automatically mutes the speakers.

Either the volume is right down or the mute is on. The volume is generally adjusted by touchscreen-I think it is on the right hand side-cant remember if its top or bottom. If that is fully up then its muted. Look through your menu and somewhere in the settings or sounds you will see an icon of a speaker. There may or not be a red cross over it. You need to put mute off. That should restore your sound.

I cant get sound to go out on my windows

Have you ever had sound come out on this system using the same version of Windows before this problem surfaced?
Are the device drivers installed for the audio card (whether it was integrated onto the motherboard or an add-in card)? To see if the device drivers appear to be installed or missing, please check the Device Manager. Also make sure the device is not muted or have any warnings issues to it.
If all the above possibilities checked out OK then I am guessing the problem could be that either the sound is muted or the output hardware (sound card itself, speakers or headphones) is the culprit. Check in Control panel to make sure the sound was not muted. Check the connections to the speakers/headphones, make sure it was plugged in the right jack, if possible try another or try the same speakers/headphones in another working system to check.
If none of these helped or you need further help, then please provide more details about your problem.
