Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

GE profile Refrigerator

I need to know what is causing a possible slow leak and how to locate where it is leaking. We have recharged it three times and it works great for two or three weeks and then after a power outage from a storm it quits cooling?

I was told I may need to replace the evaporator coil panel in the back of the freezer. I'm hoping there is something else that would be simpler. There has to be another place where a leak could occur that can be easily sealed?

I have had this frig for many years and never had this problem before with many power outages. All other parts seem to work fine, we replaced the heater coils and cleaned it all the dust and dirt and checked the compressor and we just can't figure out what else to look for. The only thing that has gotten a little worn out are the door seals on the bottom of the doors.

My email artscbabe@aol.com thanks for any help.

Why my refrigerator is leaking water from the top where the water filter is located?

Shut off water supply valve. Relieve water pressure by dispensing water. Unscrew water filter. Examine to see if the gasket is damaged or if filter was loose and just needed tightening. Or simply replace water filter with the correct water filter that your GE refrigerator calls for.

My 1 year old ge profile refrigerator has a serious leak problem from the refrigerator water filer. What should I do?

Check where the leak came from in the water filler, probably a pin hole will cause that. If you already located the leak then apply a small amount solvent or epoxy into it. You can buy solvent or epoxy from
hardware store. Look for a brand that is not harmful to human and especially use for water leaks.
You can do it so good luck.

I have an 8 year old GE Profile Side by Side TPX24PB Refrig that is leaking water in the freezer, but not the refrigerator. There is a slab of ice on the freezer floor, eventually water runs onto the...

The drain is clogged. Remove the bottom bin out of the freezer. Once done you should see a trough at the back. This trough will be filled with ice, remvoe the ice. Then you have to clear the drain. The best way I know of to do this is to force hot water down the drain with a turkey baser untill water flows freely. Then mix baken soda with water and pour it down the drain. http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/refrigerator-leaking.html

Water leak from behind ice maker in freezer

Possibly a frozen fill tube and caused by a slow leak to the water control valve to ice maker. If fill tube freezes at end because of leaking valve when it comes on water is redirected in any direction. You may need to get a photo of what is happening and send it to me. That way I will size it down and post it here. Or you can do that. Let me see what the water valve for yours looks like, BRB Sea Breeze

I have a side by side GE refrigerator and the water dispenser is leaking quite a bit. It looks like is leaks where the water is dispensed.

Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

GE Profile with water leaking. Does not seem to be a slow leak. More like an intermittant "dump." Water on floor and refrigerator shelves. Thanks!

Look under the refrigerator and locate the defroster water drain pan. There should be a tube running down the back of the refrigerator which drains water into this pan.

If this tube or other parts of the defroster drain system gets blocked, water can get diverted before it reaches the drain pan.

We have a GE Profile refrig, circa 1995. The ice

If you are sure it is caused by the ice maker or if it is not it can be fixed. The only way an ice maker would leak like that is if ice is blocking the inlet tube and when the water comes on the water is spewed in a different direction than the ice maker. Most times this is caused by a slow leak in the water control valve for the ice maker side at the rear of the refrigerator. You can stop the problem by melting the ice in the fill tube with a hair dryer and keeping an eye on it until you see ice beginning to build up there again. That would indicate a slow leak in the water control valve that is not closing all the way when off. The other reason for large pools of ice in the freezer is a frozen over defrost condensate drain behind the cover in the rear of the freezer and would require you to unplug power and remove the rear panel. I will try to get some photos and a link shortly that covers that problem a lot more in just a few minutes. Sea Breeze
