My computer wont start, only beeps - Sony VAIO PCV-RX370DS PC Desktop

I conisder myself quite smart with computers but this one I can't solve. It conitnues with long beeps and a blank screen until it is shut off and the number of beeps indicates a RAM problem. Unfortianatly, the computer did not work when I tried different RAM. Now if i had custom built this computer then I would be able to fix it but it is for a school project that rebuilds computers and gives them out to those who dont have them. This means that all i had to work with were old computer parts that were already put to ether to form a computer. this means that all of these computers are haveing there own little issues. The others i can handle but this one just makes no sense to me. Help me if you can but if not thank you anyway because the chances of someone knowing what to do with this thing is pretty unlikely. By the way it is an emachines. P4

I found, on return from a week away that my flatmate's computer had been left switched on. The screen was no longer picking up signal as if it was in standby mode. Having tried to restore the screen there was nothing left to do but t turn the computer off at the computer itself by depressing the power button for a few seconds.
Having returned to it a few days later and trying to boot it up, the screen still picks up nothing, and the computer whirs and ticks over with repeated beeping noise and nothing more.
    Again, it's an eMachines.

Thanks for the posts on these you guys but this computer only has two ports for memory due to the fact that it is an emachines. But any more information would be of great use

On the motherboard that comes with this puter, the memory is in exact pairs...Ensure they are paired correctly...Hint, the pairs are not next to each other...Fill one slot, skip one then fill the 3rd...Fill the 2nd and 4th with another set if necessary...

Is there a light blinking on the back of the computer near the fan or plug? If so you need a new power supply unit.

My PC wont start up, all it does is beep constantly. I don't have any idea what to do. Please can you help?

Beeping when the computer first starts up indicates a hardware failure. It can be bad memory, bad motherboard or something else is bad.
You can look up the beep codes from your computer manufacturer's website under support or Google It.
If you are not able to replace memory or motherboard on your computer, You will need to have a computer tech look at your computer.

All of a sudden the pc wont work can start the pc and it's running but just getting a beepeing noise roughly every few seconds help please. Rich

The beeping your hearing is a code, Without knowing how many beeps it's hard to tell what is wrong, But usually indicates a Power Supply issue or even a motherboard issue those are extremes it could be that your hard drive is no longer booting, Or the operating system isnt being found, Usually though that beeping is not a good sign.
I would suggest when your computer starts beeping it is time to seek help from the pc repair shop in your area check craigslist usually some adds on there for inexpensive work

Four beeps wont turn on, Dell 4700

The four beeps usually indicate a memory problem and it won't pass it's Power On Self Test. Try reseating the memory sticks, or, if you have two of them, take one out and try to start the machine and then swap them.
If this doesn't solve the problem, you most likely have a bad motherboard.

The beep codes are related to hardware issue with your computer. Could be the RAM, video card or the motherboard. However to help you better, we would need to know the model number of your computer and preferrebly the BIOS manufacturer

Emachine wont start, just beeps

This is probably a problem with your DIMM(RAM) Did u recently install an extra RAM?If yes then remove it because the beep sound is due to the mismatch of frequency of two DIMM's. If not open your computer and check if the DIMM is loose just push it in and powerup your comp..Let me know if its fixed..
