Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse Not Connecting

I purchased a Microsoft Wireless Optical Receiver/Keyboard/Mouse kit and have successfully installed the software/drivers. My keyboard is connecting but my mouse is not. I see my mouse in the device manager and it indicates that the connection is good, which is strange since it will not work. My batteries are new and I can see the laser in the mouse. I have tried numerous times to press the receiver button and the connect button on the mouse with no success. Any advice?

Optical light on Mouse not working

Hello,

maybe the battery?
follow the steps below to troubleshoot the mouse
Wireless mouse does not respond (generic instructions)

Try to Resynchronize your device with the receiver(connector)
Follow these steps.:
Note When you synchronize the mouse or the keyboard with the receiver, put the device near the receiver and put other wireless keyboards and mouse at least 6 feet away.
1. Press the button on the receiver, and then verify that the light on the receiver starts to blink.
2. If a dialog box appears on the screen in several seconds, follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Otherwise, go to the next step.
2. Press and release the Connect Channel button on the bottom of the mouse or the keyboard.
3. Check the green light on the receiver. A steady green light means the synchronization was successful. If the problem persists, try steps 1 through 3 again.
For the Wireless Notebook mouse: This issue can occur if the micro-switch on the bottom of the mouse is not released. Use a pin or a pen to try to release the button if it is depressed.
or
Try different port and restart your computer.
or
Reinsert the batteries or install fresh batteries
If you have the possibility check whether the problem is because of your computer or the device, try the mouse or the keyboard on a different computer.

you need to resync the mouse and keyboard to the wireless receiver. you hold the button down on the receiver until you see a flashing light and then you press the button on the bottom of the key board. then you do the same thing for the mouse.
