I recently did a Windows recommended update and now I can't get the pc to recognize my Cannon digital camera.

Download the latest camera drivers from the canon website, and install them onto your PC.

See if your unit qualifies for HP's limited warranty, mine did and they repaired it for free.
HP has identified a hardware issue with certain HP Pavilion dv2000/dv6000/dv9000 and Compaq Presario V3000/V6000 series notebook PCs, and has also released a new BIOS for these notebook PCs, version F.39 for dv2000/V3000, and version F.3D for dv6000/dv9000/V6000.

check the manufacturers website, and see if they have updated software for Vista, otherwise you can either not use the camera or forcefully downgrade the computer to XP

Turning off messages and savings pictures

First of all, a recovery disk would be helpful to make for future purposes. so if the backup program open, you might use it.

but if you get tired of the HP software opening--
1.click START-PROGRAMS-STARTUP--- delete any shortcuts here.
2.click start-run- type in "msconfig" when it opens , select the startup tab
uncheck all the boxes of programs you wish not to start when windows starts, click apply, then OK.
restart the computer. when it tells you "you have used the system configurator to change the way windows starts" check the box telling it not to tell you again and click OK.

this will NOT unistall any programs, just sets them to not open untill you manually open them which frees up system resources and make the computer run better.

I am trying to copy on folders onto a new hp computer (Pavillon dv6000) and it says it is incompatible and to check with you.

it may be that the two systems have different bit rate o/s
one 32 bit operating system, and the other has 64 bit operating system, or you are using different operating systems ie MAC and PC tthat's the only reason i can think of,unless they have been corrupted when you copied them over.

good luck and please rate my efforts

Broken HP Pavillon dV6000

Explain, (endured a hit). Electrical or physical?
For the hard drive (a clicking sound means a spindle problem). Suggest you get a new drive if it's no longer under warranty. Once you install a new drive you can slave your old bad drive into the system & pull your data off it before it stops working.

As for the laptop it's better off with a pro.
