Question about RCA F32650 32" TV

1 Answer

IHVT transformer??? the tv power light turns on and cycles with no picture or sound. I unplugged the Black and Red connector from the base of tube coil and that will allow the green light to stay on. As soon as there is a load on that part of the circuit it seems like it is power cycling. Is this a symptom of the transofrmer?

It could be the transformer or a related component. If you are not able to circuit check but have an idea on how to measure the parameters of components then check them for integrity. Also a visual inspection might turn up the problem and make sure that there are no dry solder joints. If after that it still does not work do not feel like you have failed just replace everything where it came from and get in touch witha competant technician. Good luck.

Problem on turning on the TV

Hello This is a case of the shhutdown circuit activating. I would suggest that you check the horizontal output transistor to see if it is short or open. Then I would check the IHVT (Integrated High Voltage Transformer)to see if it is open or shorted (to check for a shorted transformer do a ring test). In any event this should indicate is the transformer is good or not. If you have a background in electronics you can do the above test, if not please take this TV to a qualified TV technician. I hope this helps, Thank you, Shuttle83 http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com

Picture weak and stays on only a few seconds.

Hello tellis356,

He replaced the Integrated High Voltage Transformer (IHVT) (I so hate the term flyback even though it is descriptive of the function of the component). However he may have only solved part of the problem. My next question is did he perform a diagnostic on the CRT (picture tube)? It may well be the CRT, but I would first suggest that you have the repairman check the voltage and signal levels in the horizontal section of the TV and check the video signal and voltage levels at the output of the Video processor to the CRT socket board. Then after these are tested and proven to be within specifications, then run a diagnostic on the CRT using a CRT test set. This way he'll know for sure if the problem is in the circuitry or the CRT.

I am suspecting that the first trouble you experienced was the set was completely out? If so that is why he may have replaced the IHVT. He should have also replaced the Horizontal Output Transistor because it is in series with the IHVT and would have taken some of the damage that the IHVT would have sustained. So having him check that too would not be out of sorts.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Shuttle83

Wont turn on

sounds like the tube is out. could be the transformer but probably not. I don't recommend you try fixing this yourself.

However some rcas are funny: unplug it again and leave it unplugged for about an hour then try again.
