SOURCE: 2002 Panasonic 47WX42F HD projection TV shut off

Your symptoms sounds like a damaged convergence IC.

There are two and large IC’s that control the convergence in a big screen set. They are secured to a very large aluminum heat sink. They will have a part number stamped on them that will start with an STKXXX-XXX, like STK392-110, and they are located on the signal board (on the left as you look into the back of the set).

What happens in the Panasonic set is that the convergence IC’s will short and cause the power supply to shut down from the overload of current. This is indicated by the flashing red light on the front of the set.
Along with the convergence IC’s there will also be some associated components that will need to be replaced as well. There are some resistors that are part of the convergence circuit that will be open and need to be replaced. Most likely these will appear charred in the center. If you have an Ohm Meter or a DVM, check all the resistors that are close to the IC’s and you should be looking for either ones that have opened or have changed values.
There are also two resistors on the front of the board located in the middle that are fusible link resistors, these should be checked for opens and replaced if they are found so.

I would suggest that you contact a service center in your area for a complete diagnosis and repair, as this type of repair can get a little tricky. But if you want to repair the set yourself, just remember to be careful. The capacitors and CRT’s can hold a charge and may shock you.

If one of the convergence IC’s are found to be bad, I would replace them both, if one has gone bad the other may go soon. I usually order my parts from Andrews Electronics in California, they will have the OEM components that you will need.
Their site is
And their phone number is a 24-Hour Order Desk: (800) 274-4666
I recommend the phone order so you can talk to the person about the different types of IC’s that are available.

I would also advise that the convergence IC’s be OEM or better, just because they are cheap does not mean that they are a good deal. I have seen the cheap IC’s fail after a short time, even though they look exactly like the OEM IC’s. I think that the bottom line is that you will get what you pay for when it comes to the parts.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

replace the DG board which is the small board which plugs into the A Board ( on the left side looking in rear of the set) The DG is the board which lays flat on top of the A board. You can get the A board and the DG board combined at They may sell it seperately if you inquire.

I have 70 sharp aquos but wont turn on it blinks 2 and then 5 times?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience.

IC4511 is on DG board. Asterisk indicates whole board is to be replaced. In schematic, labeling on IC4511 indicates it does some form of video processing. Manual instructs to add an "S" at end of board part number when ordering.

Thats the code for IC4511 on the DG board, you will need to replace the entire DG board. You can get one at the following link, just leave them a email with your model number and what your error code blink is, they respond quickly.

Tv won't start

5 blinks is meaning IC4511 has a problem. Just check to make sure nothing is touching the IC4511s leads. If it looks like the leads are good.Try unplugging it and just putting a little pressure directly in the middle of the ic pushing down just a little then plug the set in and try it again. If it starts you probaly have a hairline crack in the solder connections. Let me know how you make out. If you need more assistance just let me know.

This particular unit has a built-in diagnostic. The LED in front will blink for a set number of times following the failure. The blink code is:

1 Flash Power+140
2 Flashes Low B+ D.C
4 Flashes Hi Voltage Hhs
5 Flashes Ic4511
6 Flashes Ic4518
8 Flashes Audio Amp

Can you possible tell how many flashes there are following the instant shutdown?
