Question about HP L1702 17" LCD Monitor

HP 1702 won't power up

I need to find where i can purchase the following capacitors:
100uf 6v
1000uf 25v
470uf 16v

this is for HP 1702 LCD monitor.

you need to repair or replace the power supply, the blinking means that the the voltage is not constant so it can be a problem of defective capacitors: 1000uF 16 et 470uf 25V, you have to take it to professionnel technician because it is dangerous for you, there is a hight voltage inside the monitor but if you have some knewledge about electronic and hight voltage you can do it by your self.

Monitor comes on then goes black


I've got a couple of these monitors that have the same problem. All the caps in the P/S except the large inverter filter (110uf/400v) are bulged. I;ve ordered all the caps - INCLUDING the one that doesn't look bad since all have been subjected to the same high heat (or are bad caps in the first place {Non standard?} so am attempting to prevent a recurring problem. Since all of them cost around $6 TOTAL (plus s/h) there's absolutely NO reason not to replace all of them. The ones in my monitors are: 1-22uf/50v, 1-100uf/400v, 1-470uf/10v,2-1000uf/10v and 3- 470uf/25v. I opted for the slightly higher voltages available when I ordered since that also helps and there's plenty of room. the 10v caps will be replaced by 16v ones, the 25v by 35v while the 50v & 400v will be the same voltage. Hope this helps somebody. Good luck and solder quick to keep the heat down.

When i switch on my P.C. and my FP 5313 screen it flickers


This is a known problem with a series of components inside the monitor. There are about 11 capacitors that if replaced will allow the monitor to function properly.

The list of the capacitors that are bad are below with possible replacements.

C922, C925: Hermei LE 1000uF 16V, low impedance, general purpose, replacing with 1000uF 16V Samxon GF.
C201: Hermei LZ 150uF 25V, ultra low impedance, high ripple current, replacing with 1000uF 25V Samxon GF.
C924, C926, C929, C930, C932, C933: Hermei LT 470uF 16V, high ripple current, low impedance, replacing with 1000uF 16V Samxon GF.
C207: Unknown CD110 50uF 4.7uF (general purpose), replacing with a 35V 4.7uF tantalum unit (SCP/Short Circuit Protection pin on TL1451 won't get anywhere near 35V).
C907: WC (with stylized Westinghouse W) SM 22uF 50V (general purpose), replacing with 63V 100uF Samxon GF (used for SMPS controller Vcc filtering).
C905: Hermei HT 100uF 400V, standard, general purpose, leaving as is - generally no problem.

Replace 4 dead 470uf 16v capacitors and 1 1000uf 16v capacitor on power in circuit board. worked for me.

Does your computer appear to be booting?

Do you head any startup noises, or the startup sounds you hear when Windows loads?

In no, have your computer checked.

If yes, make sure your cables are all snug. Other than that, it depends on how into "fixing it yourself" you are.

Give this a try:

Open the unit and check to see if any of the capacitors in the power supply or other boards look domed or vented on the top.

Replace any capacitors accordingly. Use the same value capacitors. Most often, 1000uF 16V or 25V, 470uF at 16 or 25V, 220uF at 16V or 25V.

If this doesn’t solve the problem, try checking the surface-mount transistors on the inverter board that run the lights. Some times these transistors go bad. Check the area for any cracked or overheated ceramic or mylar capacitors.

You'll need a soldering iron, solder, solder ****** and some idea of how soldering and desoldering work.

Digital mode of VX2035wm has stopped working


I recognize the model number as a Viewsonic model.

Check the digital input using another computer to make sure it's the monitor.

If you're brave enough, do this:

Open the unit and check to see if any of the capacitors in the power supply or other boards look domed or vented on the top.

Replace any capacitors accordingly. Use the same value capacitors. Most often, 1000uF 16V or 25V, 470uF at 16 or 25V, 220uF at 16V or 25V.

Capacitors are used to remove ripple from the switching power supply. This ripple, or noise could cause digital circuits to act up. Usually it's easy to spot the bad ones. Good ones look like a perfect cylinder. If they look swollen on the top they are likely bad.

If you do this and it does not solve the problem, the main board could be going bad and require replacement, You should be able to order one from your local Viewsonic service shop. By the way, that model is fairly new. Remember that Viewsonic monitors carry a three year warranty.

Acer AL2021


I fixed my AL2021 by replacing the output caps on the power board. $4 repair. Pull the thing apart and replace the 1000uF, 680uF and 470uF caps on the end of the power board.
