may be ur dvd rom is old thats why its not reading new dvd

dude go to device manager and uninstall the driver of the dvdrom then restart the pc.then reinstall the drivers of your motherboard.

Did your dvd rom work before?
If so perform a system restore to do this follow the steps below.
1. Click Start
2. Select All Programs
3. Scroll up to Accessories
4. Select System Tools
5. Choose System Restore
Select the first option (restore my computer to an earlier time) Choose a dateto when your dvd last worked then click next to complete.
You can always undo the restore by selecting the third option (undo my last restore) so do not worry about picking the wrong date.

i had the same exact problem with my dv 6000 notebook. The dvd Rom is damaged. U will have to get a new one. I tried lots of software but didnt work. i also wasted many cd'c nd dvd's which it didnt burn and also made them unusable.
So get ur dvd Rom replaced as sson as possible and another tip for future is that these dvd roms give up after writing about 100 dvds max i along with my 3 frnds having dv 6000 laptops have exprienced this. My frnd has now got his dvd rom replaced for the 15th time within 1 and ha;f year.. so replace ur drive.

Try cleaning the DVD drive with compressed air, if it still does not work try cleaning the drive with a DVD disk cleaner. if it still does not work and the software for the DVD drive has been confirmed as operational then the drive is dead and needs replacement.

Did you 'turn off' the AUTOPLAY feature of the CD\DVD ? When the player "runs two times at startup", it is trying to find the program on the disc.2nd- Look in internet for HP dv6000 cd\dvd drive replacement.(If that is the ""exact match for the product"" you wrote about)
3rd.goto CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and look up cd\dvd and uninstall it. REBOOT, when your system comes back it will try to find the cd\dvd. If it does not, it is damaged (kaput!), must be replaced. If Windows finds the cd\dvd drive and reinstalls the drivers, but it does not work, then the heads are dirty or damaged.That Windows found the dvd\cd means that the circuit on the device works.

Hi, i use an HP pavillion dv6000 with Optiarc dvd rw ad -7561a ata (light scribe). i tried installing a softwear after which my dvd rom will not work it was complaining of driver corruption. i did uninstall and re- installed th driver from the system hard drive. but it will not install correctly. my computer can also not read drive E anymore. can some one help please.
