Question about SanDisk 2GB microSD Memory Card

SanDisk 2GB microSD error message - Disc is Write-Protected

I just bought a SanDisk 2GB microSD memory card for my phone, an LG enV2, in order to save music to it. When I tried to save music to it from my laptop it gave me this message: Disc is Write-Protected. The same message displays when I tried to rename the disc and when I tried to reformat it using the laptop. I tried switching the tab on the side of the adaptor down to "lock" and up, presumably to unlock. I tried right-clicking on all the folders on the disc in order to undo the "read-only" attributes. When I re-checked the attributes, the change had not been kept, although I tried clicking "Apply" before clicking "OK". Simply put, how can I un-Write Protect my SanDisk?

    Aminic,

Thanks for the quick response. I reformatted the disk in my phone and had the same results. I attempted to format it from the computer. Again, it read the disk as write-protected. The phone salesperson invited me to come by to have a look. I shall post the solution when I find it since others are probably having the same problem.

    Gratefully,

For all others with the same problem:

I bought a microSD card reader and I can now use my microSD card without any problems. Apparently my old reader does not do well with the card.

Readers are available in many places. Prices range from as little as $10 to as much as $80. My friendly neighborhood Verizon store carries them for about $24.

Re-format it. Put the SanDisk 2GB microSD memory card into your LG enV2 and format it from there. If that does not work plug it into your laptop then right click the icon and format it to FAT and click on default settings.
