DVD RW not Reading some discs

Ok its hard to explain so i will do my best hun and im sorry if i dont make sense but im not all that computer tech savy so i will leave you my email if you want to ask me more questions <3 thanks
a few weeks ago i wanted to watch the american phsyco movie
put in the disc and nothing happend
reseted comp and nothing
no autoplay nothing
so i thought the movie disc was busted and chucked it

now i recently bought the warhammer online age of reckoning game
and i put disc one in my drive
and nothing
then i was liek well this is familiar
so i wait a sec because my mouse cursor is showing a little disc symbol like its trying to do something but nothign happens
so i go to "my computer" and see that the drives image is like its empty
so i try to open the drive in explorer and see
but the exploere window just freezes and closes
then all my dexktop icons and taskbar dissappear
i wait a few minutes and it comes back but the disc isnt read still
so i just removed it
i cant figure out whats wrong
i only have a few burned movies to try and they started up fine the auto play opened and everything
put the game back in and nothing.
i put the american phsyco movie (its not burned it the orginal dvd) and nothing
so after much crying and throwing of objects i still have no solution
ive asked m y friends that know aobut this stuff and the end result was to just by a new drive.... which im to poor to do and also id just like to be absoultly sure there is nothing i can do to fix it myself. im sending parts of my Dxdiag idk if it will help. my email address is Pyriel.infinity@gmail.com

I can burn movies as always, no problem...but not only does my AUTO PLAY no longer appear, my picure discs (RW, CD-R, etc.) can no longer be read. I insert any photo disc and a pop-up asks me what I want to do with the 'blank' disc.....it's as if nothing is on any disc. Help!

SOURCE: dvd wont read disc

I would suggest going into the control panel and uninstalling the device from there and then go to the MFG website to get the latest driver possible and reinstall reboot and see if that does the trick

if not updating the firmware would be your next option. Usually this process can fix errors such as yours. Give it a try let me know what happens

SOURCE: Blank DvD Disc Reading Problem

Goto HP's website to the support section download the drivers and replace your current ones. If it still does not the drive has failed and needs replacement.

SOURCE: Program not responding

Have you considered doing a complete recovery of your operational system, I'am suggesting this because of the fact you have to many program conflicts due to device drivers that are not working properly.

Clicking noise

the 'clicking' sound might be a defective hard drive, which also explains some of those other issues.seems that perhaps a local computer tech can easily identify that, and then you may need to do a hard drive recovery exercise to recover hard data.

Why everytime i play movie or video (download, played using cd-rom) my screen turns flicker/static but when i play some videos from net like youtube or streaming, im not getting any problem. Audio is...

Sure,
This seems to be a problem with

1- Your DVD / CD player , which is not reading the video files properly probably because of a damaged lens.
2- Your RAM is less than the amount which is required to play the video file properly.
3- The CD / DVD itself if it has scratches or has done bad, if this is the case with all video cds/dvds then this is not the problem.

Now to check if it's not a problem with your DVD or CD player reading the disc,

Try copying the video file to your hard disk and play it , if it works ok , it could be the reason that your CD/DVD lens is damaged and not in best condition.

Should I use DVD+R or DVD-R discs with HP S3700Y computer

You can use either but if I was you I would use the dvd+r discs because if you make your own movies and you decide you don't want to play them on the computer, it will be compatible with your other new dvd players out there if you have one or decide to buy one in the future.

I've seen in the past where dvd-r discs aren't as compatible with regular dvd players.

Try uploading to your PC then converting it to AVI this keeps quality of video. Then if you want to download to a disk use Nero to convert it to VOB (DVD format) and burn off. You can also use Nero to erase the disk. (Nero 7 or more recent preferably.) You must also be sure you PC DVD read write head can take the DVD +/- RW. CHeck compatability.

Cd/dvd rom

It may be really dirty or just to old or has had laser failure.

There cheap these days, and CD drive with DVD Rom reading ability are like $20 to $30 depending on speed and brand.

A DVD/CD RW writer reader are also getting cheaper, around $60 and up usually.

And some advice. Dont by HP Pavilions. I've worked on alot and i find they have outdated parts cuz there remanufactured from older computers and you have a hard time upgrading due to hard to find drivers
