Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

I have a Royal educator electric typewriter which is not operating. I took the casing off and found that the pulley which is connected to the motor and wheel was broken, other than that it is in perfect running order. I can not find a replacement pulley, can you direct me to site where i can purchase pulley and a ribbon. I know it is a trivial part, but i love it. It is just the right size for the space i have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much; Bill

SOURCE: The ribbon is no longer printing on the tape.

are you sure it uses a ribbon? Or does it use an ink roller. If it uses a ribbon it should reverse by it self. Make sure it is installed properly, there is not a ribbon reverse switch it should do it automatically. if its installed right.

SOURCE: Typewriter suddenly will not print!

It's been awhile since I've worked on these.

What is the typing mechanism in here? I believe Brother was using a wheel.

SOURCE: Royal Portable typewriter ribbon

Hi, I have a Royal Companion Portable from 1940's. I bought new ribbons at mytypewriter.com (select the "Royal Portable" ribbon). It fits. Anyway if it doesn't it's not an expensive mistake, but I researched this and apparently all vintage Royal Portables have the same standard ribbon. Worked out in my case. Good luck!

SOURCE: How to load ribbon and rewind ribbon.

The ribbon should reverse itself if it working properly. Just to the indide of each ribbon is a reversing that the ribbon should go thru, Move that arm away from the empty spool and type a few letters it should reverse. DickyO

One of the linkage bars for the type bar is missing on my Royal KMM Typewriter

Depending on the size of the holes in the type bar you can make one from a thick paper clip or swap one from a little used key like ; or 1 (you can use lower case L) This isn't a perm. repair.

Need new motor

I don't know why you think it needs a motor. There are 3 motors carrier, ribbon lift and paper feed I have never replaced any of them. Before you do put some WD40 on there bearings and lube the silver shaft that the carrier slides on and the carrier pulleys.

BROTHER TYPEWRITER

Is your typewriter made by Royal or Brother? I think your question was mis-posted under Brother as opposed to Royal. IF your machine is a Royal, Brother will NOT be able to help you. THIS GOES FOR EITHER MANUFACTURER...Have you inspected the platen drive gear? Is it cracked, missing teeth or otherwise damaged? If not look on both sides of the typewriter for the drive motor. Look to see if the gear mates with the motor.
