My Acer Aspire Still does not work after I have tried to reformat it using the USB info downloaded from your site. What further can I do . It powers on but black screen

From the Acer support site. http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2631
If this does not help and you still cannot reload the OS, you will need professional help.
How do I reinstall the Operating System on my computer? Select models have the ability to have the Operating System reinstalled from a hidden partition built into the computer.
Note: Ensure that all important data is backed up as reloading your computer will return it to the factory default specifications, resulting in the loss of all user data.

To start the system recovery:

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media.
Note: If your computer does not have an internal optical disc drive, an external optical disc drive will be required in order to recover the Operating System using Acer Recovery Media.
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
  3. Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
  4. Close the CD-ROM tray.
  5. Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
  6. The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
  7. When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.

Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.

  8. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
Note: If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form. If your computer is unable to run the Acer Recovery process, or errors occur during recovery, please contact Acer support.

My screen is black with white writing, says operating system not found

Hello.

Usually that error means that there is a problem with your Windows operating system or your hard drive is faulty.

First, try to access the recovery partition. Boot your computer and press the Alt and F10 keys together repeatedly. Choose and go through the recovery process. If it works, your operating system will be OK, but everything you installed and saved will be gone.

If no recovery, then reinstall the operating system with a Windows CD. If no CD or problems, occur, then your hard drive is probably faulty and needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps.

Ibm t30 -black screen comes up with missing operating system

Sir, It seems there is no Operating System(OS) installed in your laptop.
Check is you have got any Operating System (eg : Windows XP, Vista, 7) CD/DVD provided to you. Or else, try to get it from any computer retailer shop or buy it from microsoft.com. If you have any such CD/DVD, Insert it in the CD/DVD ROM (drive). And press f10 key during the boot screen (the black screen) and choose " First Boot Device " as Cd/DVD ROM and it will appear as " Press any key to boot from cd", press any key and you will get through the Operating System Installation Screen. Follow the procedures, at one point you should format the partition (drive) where you choose to install that particular OS. And follow the procedures, enter all information it asks like product key (it will found on the OS CD/DVD package) and other registration information. Once you done wit all these, your laptop will work fine. Thank You.

Computer boots up and then goes to a black screen

Hi ,

Please follow these trobleshooting steps......

Turn the computer off and then disconnect any external devices connected and then when you turn the computer on or as son as you press the power button to turn the computer on start tapping the F8 key repeatedly until you get a black screen that says advance boot menu option .Then used the arrow keys on the keyboard and then hit enter, select the operating system and then when you get the log on screen select administrator .If it takes you to the desktop then you can try doing a restore by going to start ?all programs ?accessories?system tools and then system restore ? select the date when you think that you r computer was working fine and then click on next next to exit from the wizard.Should fix the issue .

If the computer does not boot up to the desktop then without wasting time on any trobleshooting steps recovery needs to be done that takes the computer back to its original factory settings. To do this instead of the f8 key tap the f11 key till you get the screen that says system recovery ,click next until you get the screen that has advance option ,click on it ?select destructive recovery ?click next the recovery will start and the computer will be formated (whatever you have added after you bought the computer would be lost ).If the recovery does not work this was then it needs to be done from the recovery disks and fot that you call call HP...
