Question about Toshiba 36HF71 36" TV
We are tied in with Brighthouse network cable service. When we place the channel on the GUIDE the top picture which shows upcoming programs is distorted, blurry and shakey.
The TV is about 7 years old. We contacted the cable company who came out to replace the box, but said it was the TV and not the box. We called a service repair shop who was knowledgeable on the type of TV we have and indicated it was some sort of conversion problem which would cost about $300 and another $150 to pick it up and return.
Is it worth it? are you familiar with such problems?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

yes and this is a common problem! First lets check out the obvious/ when theis fault starts to happen take out the batteries out of the remote control. If the problem stops then you need a new remote. If the proplem persist the remote sensor assy is bad in the tv set. Ive never heard a cable box causeing a motherboard to act up?? Wait arent mother boards in computers?? lol. believe me you need to tell the tv msn to replace the rmote sensor. Now in an extremly rare cases the microprocessor was causing the problem BUT highly unlikly. Good Luck

It is a 20" TV set and will most likly, im afraid to tell you, cost more to fix then it is worth. The problem is a bad Picture tube, an intermittant CRT socket or the video jungle IC is intermittant. If you want to invest in an estimate, check out first if it will go towards the repair, as then maybe you can get it fixed at a good price, as long as the picture tube is not the problem Good Luck

for this brightness problem actually came out from flyback transformer...so, before you spend and waste your money, try to adjust at back of your tv first. But if you aren't an expert, better ask technician to do because that transformer supply a very high voltage....there's two adjustment point at flyback transformer, one point for focus and the other one for brightness! try first...

The set has a shorted vertical output IC, probably a TA8427k. The capacitors around the heat sink of this IC dry out and cause the IC to run hot. The correct repair is to replace the vertical output and the electrolytic capacitors near it. Also use 105 centig instead of the original 85 centigrade. The is some time a pico fuse or current limittng resistor which must also be replaced. This a common problem with Toshiba and is not a bad picture tube. The usual cost of this repair is around $120-150 depending on the integrity of the technician. Scrivitron
