There is nothing showing on the display panel. It first started by displaying inverted letters, then garble, and now blank. The print out sheets states hardware failure - Front panel - data path failure (16.4) Do you know what part I should replace for this?
Startup page says "Hardware Failure: Front Panel data path failure (16.4)" but Front Panel is presently working fine. No apparent problems. Reluctant to fix what isn't broken. Just finished replacing the Electronics Module which was totaled by a power surge. Disconnected the Front Panel to get at it, but now reassembled and functioning. I reset the NVRAM. Thoughts?

Re: Xerox Phaser 8550dt printer
That is a known problem with the 8500 phaser family.
Contact Xerox at 1-800-835-6100, They WILL replace it for free. It is a known problem.
I really believe that display is failing. very common problem.
Just tell them the display is blank when you call. But they are faulty. Very faulty.

I have seen the same behavior on my 8560N. Sometimes the screen will be backlit, but the characters on the display are garbled. Other times, the backlight is off and the screen is blank. No manner of button pushing or tweaking the printer web server will bring the display back on. After a while, the display will just clear itself. I did not see this behavior until after I had a REALLY bad paper jam and some cardstock became lodged inside the print engine. I had to take the printer body panels off (which required disassembling the display interface. When I put it back together, everything worked, but the display started this strange behavior the next morning. Is it related? I don't know, but it sure was coincidental timing if not related.
If your 6360 has a blank display, garbled
characters, inverted, upside down, or backwards display the control panel is bad and must be replaced. Here's a video to replace it. It's very easy and takes about a minute.
It sounds like the display panel has gone bad. Possibly the text is garbled or only half shows up??
If you contact Xerox and tell them, I believe they will send you a replacement display panel - even if your printer is no longer under warranty -- IF your printer has never been sent a replacement display.
I've had this happen on several of these printers - I believe they know there is an issue with the display panels, which is why they are sending replacements for free.
I find the easiest way to contact them is to go through the support section at xerox.com and search for that error, then hit contact us at the bottom of the page. It'll ask for your contact information as well as the serial number of your machine.
If your Xerox Phaser 6360 has either garbled
characters, inverted or upside down display, or no display, the control panel is most likely bad and must be replaced. Here's a video on how to do it and where to get it. Hope it helps!
this is usually caused by a fuser but could be static from the paper depending on the fuzziness. if the letters have like a halo effect around them then it could very well be static and you may want to try a fresh **** of paper. otherwise, it probably the fuser...
Defective Control Panel. In early 2006 a defect was found with some of the Phaser Control Panels. This has been corrected in manufacturing and new versions of the control panel placed into inventory.
Fixed! Did not fix.
Try the Engine Only test print on the rear of the machine. If the print is successful, the display is defective and needs to be replaced. Using the Centerware IS (CWIS) and using the Support Tab will connect you to Knowledgebase for any procedures on how to change this control panel. Contact Product Support, 800-835-6100 for any other questions regarding this issue.
When our control panel went blank last month, Xerox did not offer a free replacement because our printer was out of warranty. Consequently, we ordered one from SparePartsWarehouse.com at the best price we could find - $104.87 plus shipping. The part number for our 8550dp is 848K06551, but these are the compatible part numbers for the "Xerox 8500 Control Panel & Bezel": Compatible Part Numbers: 848K06551, 101E28730, 101E28731, 802K93650, 802K93651, 848K06550, 848K06552. It is easy to replace, instructions are on the Xerox website at http://www.office.xerox.com/printers/color-printers/phaser-8500-8550/sprt-enus.html
Hope this info helps someone, and thank you FixYa for this forum.
