Solor pool pump problem

I have a 3/4 horse pentair pump. it was pre-plumbed by my pool builder who is now out of business. I installed my solar heater myself and when i originally installed it on my roof aprox 12 feet off the ground i did not put a check valve after the pump. The basket will no fill with water completely but there is water flowing. there are two inlets in the bottom of my pool and I can barley feel the water coming out of one. before the company went out of business they told me the since i didn't install the check valve after the pump that the back flow of water into the pump has caused the pump now to run in reverse. doesn't sound right to me. they said the something needed to be replaced and they would send someone out. they never did. any thoughts?

Hi richkline1,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: You have a 3/4 horse pentair pump. it was pre-plumbed by your pool builder who is now out of business. You installed your solar heater yourself and when you originally installed it on your roof aprox 12 feet off the ground you did not put a check valve after the pump. The basket will no fill with water completely but there is water flowing. there are two inlets in the bottom of your pool and you can barley feel the water coming out of one. before the company went out of business they told you the since you didn't install the check valve after the pump that the back flow of water into the pump has caused the pump now to run in reverse. doesn't sound right to you. they said the something needed to be replaced and they would send someone out. they never did. any thoughts?

I've been thinking about your situation for a few days. First install the check valve. If the problem persists then I would suspect the pump. I have seen a few times that the pump was not the problem. In these cases it was something I call an air lock. It is dificult to explain to the layman but it can be responsible for the lack of flow. It has to do with the way it is piped. I know it seemed simple to pipe but if not done correctly you have this kind of headaike. To solve this I would have to be there. Wish I could do more.

New replacement in-line heater (C3B54P0-3002AU0) inop.

Bath tub heaters will only maintain the water temperature in the bath. They will only heat the water approximately 1-2 degrees an hour.
Whatever water temperature you start with is what you will be able to maintain.
There is a red indicator light on the front of each heater indicating whether or not there is power to the unit when the tub is full of water and the water pump is turned on.
If there is a red light on then it has power to it and is working.
This heater will never feel warm to the touch.
There are three different styles of Bath Heaters available.
  • Tee Heater - installs on the discharge fitting on the pump
  • In-line Pressure - installs anywhere in the plumbing line before any jet.
  • In-line Vacuum Heater - installs before the suction of the pump
If the heater you purchased is installed in the wrong place it will not operate.

I have a Lasco whirlpool spa SG72ACSK that is new and never used. I would like to add a heater to this unit, is it possible to do so? How?

It is always possible to add a heater to any jetted bathtub at any time.
What you need to find out that is if the tub is plumbed to each jet with rigid PVC pipe or flexible PVC pipe.
If it is plumbed in flex pipe then the Tee heater will be easier to install however if it is plumbed in rigid PVC then I would suggest a inline pressure heater that you will install in the water line any place after the discharge of the pump.
Here is a link to a installation instructions so you can see how all heaters are installed.

Aqua Glass whirlpool with a Pentair pump wont turn on.

the pictures are not showing up. Sounds like maybe you have an ITT Marlow pump that has a circuit board on the back of it.
What model number pump do you have? I believe what you tell us here is model number R150VS11-C
If this is the case then what you have is a control with a knob on the top of it that controls the 6 speeds.

The control & "VS" series pump you have is no longer being made. (It hasn't been made for well over 5 years)

Your new system includes the following items:

• New 1.5 hp Pump

• AirStreme Control box and topside control panel

You will change everything from the old system to what comes with the new system.

The new topside panel replaces the one on the top of the bathtub and the pump will hook up to the same plumbing as the old one.

No cutting PVC pipe to get this installed.

What coould have caused all the pentair aqualumin lights to have burnt out or filled with water?

This seems to be caused by the gasket having failed. There is no other answer except that if you have water inside the lens of the light.

I have the Jacuzzi 9235 Nova 6 and pump has gone out. Where can I find a replacement pump, and are there options on different pumps to replacement the existing pump?

You can get a replacement motor, or a whole pump at most swimming pool product, or spa outlet stores . Also many plumbing supply houses, or online (http://www.jacuzziwhirlpoolbath-parts.com/) You will need all the info on the motor as well as the pump model. The pumps are usually in a very confined space. It is best to have a professional do the work, however a handy homeowner can make the repair. Just remember this job involves three things water and electricity and in a confined space, so make sure all power to the unit is off even if you are just getting the information needed to replace the pump. As far as options it is best to replace the pump with the same model increasing horsepower or putting a two-speed pump where there was a single-speed may require modifications to the tub.

How to install a stainless steel evolution pool heater

Hello. Most pool owners use natural gas or propane to heat their pool water through a gas boiler. Call your gas provider and they will come out and give you a free estimate on a perfectly sized pool heater. You can then install it your self or have them do it. Joe

Is the spa inground also? If so you need to turn off the filter return at the pump and use the circulation pump only. this is only a best guess as I am unsure of the pump setup.

Instructions for American Standard Safe-T-Heater #9075.120

Once the heater is installed and the whirlpool pump is operating, the heater is totally automatic. The heater will help maintain the temperature of the water in the bath. The heater is equipped with a preset pressure switch. The pump must be running with water flowing in the whirlpool to allow the heater to turn on. The Indicator Light light turns on whenever the heater is operating. The heater includes an exclusive "Intelligent High-Limit". This safety circuit will not "false trip" from hot tap water. It will only turn the heater off if the thermostat fails. If the high-limit trips frequently, call a service technician. To manually reset the circuit in the event that the "High-Limit" switch has been activated, simply (1) Turn off the whirlpool pump. (2) Drain water from the tub. (3) Remove power from heater by unplugging at receptacle or turning off circuit breaker. (4) The heater circuit will automatically reset in less than 15 minutes. (5) Restore power to the heater. (6) Whirlpool bath is now ready to use.
Good Luck,
