Question about Samsung ML-2510 Laser Printer
I bought my laser printer last May, and until last week, it was working beautifully. I also bought an inkjet printer second hand two weeks ago so I could print in colour now and then. I installed the driver from the site for the inkjet printer and it works great. To use either printer, I just used to unplug the usb cable from one printer and plug it into the other. Both worked fine, though it was a pain to unplug and plug, so I bought another usb cable for the inkjet. Both printers stopped printing. Little did I know that there is only one usb port for a printer. Fine, I figured that out, a little late.... Anyway, the inkjet printer works fine, but the laser printer won't work at all. It came with an installation cd which I have installed six times and uninstalled six times to no avail. It will not print a test page, but only an error page - Position: )x42b (1067) System: h6fwaim_mono/xl_image Line: 132 Version: QPDL 5.04 04-25-2005 I have no idea what this means. The laser printer will print a demo page, and as it was working all along with my Windows XP, it is definitely compatible, as stated on the demo page. Anyway, I always change to the default printer, depending on which printer I want to use, and make sure it's online when I want to print, but I get a pop up saying to check the printing queue and try the trouble shooter, which I have countless times. I can't print in Word, Note Pad or anything. The laser printer is plugged into the proper usb port on my tower, the ink toner is new, as of two weeks ago, everything is plugged in, there are no paper jams,the usb cord works because I'm using it for the inkjet, and I use the same cord for the laser. I have no idea what to do and I'm at my wit's end. I've even gone to the Samsung website and downloaded the driver, but it still doesn't work. Is it the printer, or my motherboard? I don't have a virus, I've done defragging, spy bot and ad aware, and I have Window Washer, if that helps. I love my laser printer and bought one initially so I could print more without constantly running out to get ink cartridges. If you can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. I do need detailed step-by-step instructions though. Very similar problem to earlier post re samsung ML-2010. I purchased a samsung ML-2510 laser last year (2007) which has started periodically, and more and more frequently, giving me a "line 132" error. Instead of printing what I've sent to print, it prints out: INTERNAL ERROR -- FALSE POSITION : 0x245c9 (1489371) SYSTEM : h6fwsim_snipe/xl_image LINE : 132 VERSION : SPL 5.07 06-27-2006 I am using the parallel port cable to connect to my laptop from the printer rather than the usb, however. I have other devices I alternate between two usb ports (brother scanner, dvd writer, connections for photos, etc. Turning the laser printer off and restarting it has helped clear the problem in the past, but lately this maneuver is not quite the panacea that it was. My laptop is old, still running ME, and having trouble with built up garbage programs and overcrowding of the harddrive, if that could have any bearing on the matter.
it seems to me that you might gotten the wrong driver install in your system.

do a check on your OS version. Operating system. right click mycomputer icon -> properties.
download the correct version of driver from Samsung website again. uninstall the currect version and unplug the usb cable to the printer.
restart your system, install the downloaded correct version and plug in the usb cable to the printer. do a custom install to serach for the printer. if it does search the printer. it will show you. USB001. after install you will be prompt to do a test page. test on it to see it works.
if it does not work after downloading and install the driver. You might have a mainboad firmware corruption.
to run a firmware update is not easy it might course other major issue. only install by an trained Samsung Engineer.

SOURCE: printer doesn't work
The answer is probably down to the usb port, they don't always like change, because you are trying to swap hardware in same port, they tend to want to stay with one or the other peice of hardware. If you have'nt got another spare USB port, which i assume you have'nt, invest in a 2 or 4 port USB hub(But make sure it's powered by a AC power lead and not just a usb powered hub, because some hardware will not be recognised e.g I Pods), this connects into your usb port and gives you 2 or 4 port more to use, and you won't need drivers for it. They are inexpensive and you simply plug it in. I think this will solve it for you

Try to rebrick your printer. Pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged
in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds. This will give enough time for the printer to reset itself.
You may also try to plug the printer to a different known working power outlet in the wall to identify if it's a faulty power outlet issue.
