I have no sound coming from laptop.....volume turned says device working properly

Try going into your control panel and go through the Sound and Audio device icon. Once here you will look for the tab "Audio", click on that. The first section displays playback audio click on the volume button, and from here make sure, that none of the controls listed here are muted. Also make sure that all the volume controls are set up as high as possible. See if that helps....

My laptop have inbuilt speakers but when i switch to volume control option it dispalys a message that no audio output device is installed and sound is also not coming

Check the Sound Drivers in device manager if the device is not installed you need to download the drivers from HP Web site by using the Product Number
If you can please specify the Product Number and Serial Number of the Laptop

To connect a music player or other audio device to your laptop

<br />If your laptop has a line-in jack, follow the instructions above for connecting a music player to a desktop computer. But to connect a music player or other audio device to most laptops, you'll have to plug it into a microphone jack. I have no sound and i can not see the volume control

It's a possible problem with the driver or the sound card may be disabled. To check if the sound card is disabled or drivers not installed,
1. Right click on "My Computer" select "Properties"

2. Click "Device Manager"
3. From the list, you should see a "Sound Controller" and if you click on the drop down arrow beside it, you should see the audio driver installed(ex. High Definition Audio Device... audio driver name may vary depending on the brand of the laptop).
4. Right click on the sample "High Definition Audio Device" then select Properties. If it says device is working properly then there shouldn't be any problem with your audio.
** If the Sound Controller is NOT installed properly you need to download the Audio drivers from the support site of your Dell computer, , be sure to select the correct model of your laptop and operating system of your computer. Once you have downloaded and installed the drivers, Audio should work fine not unless it is the hardware itself that is damaged.
**Also don't forget to check if there are other external audio output devices connected to your computer, please do test if working properly.

My sound is not working

Hi dennismor884 ,

If you sound card it not working please follow the below solution :-

1 - Check if the sound drivers have been installed properly , you can do this by going to your device manager from the my computer option , all you need to do is right click on the my computer icon and then go in properties - hardware - and then choose device manager.

2 - Check if there is any icon showing ? or some other sign inside the sound and the audio devices option,

3 - If it's ok , then you need to make sure that the sound is not set to mute from control panel , you can check the master volume, the wave volume etc...

4 - If there is some problem in the device manager in the sound options then you need to resinstall the sound drivers from the motherboard cd that has come along with your laptop.

This should solve your problem , let me know in case you have any queries.

No sound

Here are some things to check:

  • If you have external speakers, make sure that they're plugged into a working power source and that they're turned on.

  • Make sure your speakers are correctly connected to the computer.

    On your speakers, make sure that the cable that plugs into your computer is plugged into both the speakers and the correct jack on your computer (the jack that goes to your sound card). Most sound cards have at least three jacks. Plug the speaker cable into the line-out jack. This jack often has a symbol showing an arrow pointing away from the jack. If the jacks aren't labeled, check the information that came with your computer to see what each jack does.

  • Make sure the speaker volume isn't turned down too low or muted. This is particularly important for laptops, which often have small speakers that can be hard to hear.

    1. Click to open Volume.

    2. Move the slider up to increase the volume.

    To make sure that your computer has a sound card

      • If you think you have a sound card installed but you don't see it under Sound, video and game controllers, double-click Other devices to check for any audio devices listed there.

    To make sure that your sound card is working properly

      If there's a yellow question mark next to the name of the sound card, there might be a problem.

If these actions don't solve the problem, there might be a problem with the hardware for your sound card, although in most cases sound problems are caused by missing or out-of-date drivers, or a problem with your speakers. If you suspect you have a hardware problem, contact the manufacturer of your computer or sound card.

No sound my system

If there is no sound coming from your computer try these "simple" but common solutions first.

1. Make sure the power cord is plugged into an outlet and the speakers are turned on.
*Make sure your speakers are correctly connected to the computer.
*Make sure that the speaker cable is plugged into the speakers and the correct jack on the computer.
2. Make sure your computer has a sound card and that it is enabled and working properly:
To open Device Manger...
*Control Panel
*System and Maintenance
*Device Manager
*Expand the Sound, video and game controllers category.
If a sound card is listed, you have one installed.
*Check the status of the driver and update if necessary.
3. Make sure that the speaker volume is not muted or turned down too low.
To open Volume Control...
*Click the Start button ,
*Click Control Panel
*Click Hardware and Sound
*Under Audio Devices and Sound, click Adjust system volume.
*Under Main Volume, move the slider up or down to raise or lower the volume.
If you still have no sound after checking the solutions above, you more than likely have a bad sound card.

No sound in my computer and i can't figure out why

Check to see if you have the mute ticked in the volume control, your laptop may also have a volume control knob that needs turning up.
Also check the sound level is not set to minimum.
Connect headphones to the sound out connector and see if you can hear and sounds.
Open the Control Panel, Click on Sounds & Audio Device Properties, you can check on all the sounds and audio device etc.

Sound Device not working but everything seems to be installed and working

you might want to try going into the bios of your computer (usually pressing delete when your computer first comes on) and looking in there to make sure your sound device is turned on.

Try this....

Locate the volume knob (toshiba laptops normally has this volume know located on the side of the laptop). Make sure it turned on. and see what happens. Even if the sound icon in the taskbar is turned up but if this knob is not then there would be no sound at all. I am assuming that your drivers are good since you said in the device manager that all are working properly.

Why our head phones on Computer are not working

Is there a switch to turn on the headphone port? Is there a control on the headphones to adjust the volume (on a volume level on the side of the laptop)? Also, when the headphones are plugged into the laptop, go into your sound settings and turn up the master volume (and wave volume if it is low.. If that works, make sure to turn it back down when disconnecting the headphones).

Also, do the headphones work in another device (stereo, etc..)?
