First do not panic! It is possible to recover your pictures if you take care. Take the card from the camera (powered off) and if it has a "write protect" tab then lock it now. Do not try and write anything to the card or you risk causing more problems.

You can either plug in you camera to the PC as it should appear as a “Removable Drive” or put the card in a card reader attached to your PC.

Next, if you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a FREE utility that will recover your photos from the following link:

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

If you need something a little more "user friendly" then you will need to buy the software. If you search the web for photo recovery software you will find many.
One I have used successfully is RescuePro that used to be bundled with some Sandisk products. Now you can get it from the link below:

http://www.lc-tech.com/software/prwindetail.html

You can try the demo to see what you can recover before buying.

Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to the card until you can recover your pictures to your PC safely!

Please take a moment to rate this solution & let us know if the information given was useful to you – Good Luck!

By mistake i press the format so i lost my all important picture how can i get them back , please any one help me...........

If they were on a memory card and you haven'd done anything to the card since formatting it, you may be able to recover at least some of the pictures. Do a Google search for "data recovery software" and select a program for your computer and operating system. Put the card into a card reader attached to your computer and run the program.

I hit the Format button by mistake,And don't know where to find my pictures help?

Formatting the card wipes it clean and prepares it for use.
If you haven't done anything with the card since then, there's a possibility of recovering at least some of the pictures. Do a Google search for "format recovery software" and select a program appropriate for your computer.

First thing I did is format the memory card my first mistake, how do I download to the computer

If you formatted the memory card, you will not be able to download your pictures to the computer. Once you format your card, all pictures are deleted. I am sorry for your loss.

On some cameras, once you use the internal memory, you must format it and completely erase it before a regular memory card will work. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions. Then, never use the internal memory again.

If she only deleted them instead of formatting them, there are expensive software programs that can retrieve the pictures providing you didn't keep adding more pictures to the card.

I have an HP digital camera and I took 90 pictures of my trip to Mexico and now only four pictures show up. They were not deleated by mistake and were on the camera yesterday and today only four pictures...

Check to see if they're in the memory card by using a card reader or your cable (USB) hooked up to your computer. Look in "My Computer" to see what's on the card. If they're there, copy them to a folder on your computer. After you confirm they were copied, I would format the card in your camera using the camera's function for formatting.

I hit the wrong buttons on my camera 400+ pics deleted from memory card...how can i get them back?

First, don't take any more pictures! Take the card out of the camera and set it aside. Once you have made a mistake like this, any additional saving to the disk WILL overwrite the deleted photos. Even if you format it, it's ok, just don't take any more photos or write to the disk.

Some card manufacturers will now provide a photo undelete software package on the card. However, this may not be available to you if you have formatted the card.

Here is a link to a software package that will help you to retreive them. It will cost you though. That's one thing I would hope people would provide for free, but nope. That's what we get for making the mistake. But good thing is, once you buy it, you're relatively safe so long as you follow my first advice.

I deleted all my holiday photoes by mistake

Go to here download the Recuva program (free but be sure to uncheck the option for the yahoo toolbar during install) and be sure your Flash card is plugged in before you run the program. Choose the Card Drive letter and it should locate the images unless you have formatted the card again or covered the files up with new pictures.

Good Luck!

Pictures gone!

Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for. Recommend the last program listed on this page:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/recovering-those-accidentally-lost.html

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st?keywords=card+reader&rs=172282&page=1&rh=n%3A172282%2Ck%3Acard+reader&sort=price

After you've recovered the photos and backed them up on your computer, recommend formatting the card in your camera (note that this will erase all photos on your card). Look for the "Low Level" format option in your camera's menus. A low level format should help prevent this from happening again.
