Kenmore model 59502990 25 qf side by side refrigerator

My refrigerator will make a click noise like it is trying to turn on when I plug it in. The fan comes on, but not the compressor. Is there a relay that I can replace that may fix the problem?

that does not sound good and to save you a service call unplug the refrigerator and wait 5 minutes while waiting remove the cover on back covering the compressor condenser and fan us a flash light and make sure if it is your fan motor or compressor making the noise. You may need someone to plug it in as you look for the exact location. Anytime you unplug wait 5 minutes or more to allow the Freon pressure to equalize or the compressor will not start. Evaporator fan noise. How do I access the evaporator fan motor to replace it?

Turn off the refrigerator. Remove the freezer shelving and bins. Remove the screws holding the rear panel inside the freezer. Repair or replace the fan motor.
You may also have to remove bin supports from the side wall to get the panel out depending upon your model. The model number posted is incomplete.

Kenmore model 57029 side-by-side refrigerator not working

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, ie defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

Unplug the Ref for 15-20 min., plug it back in and listen for the compressor to start. You will need to be behind the Ref so you can tell if the compressor or the fan is running. It will help to take the cover off so you can see the compressor.
Compressor not running but you hear a clicking noise. The relay needs to be replaced.
Compressor runs but not cooling. Low on coolant

Side by side refrigerator and freezer not working, (fan not working either)

Hi,
This doesn't sound good does it?

The good news is that the compressor at the back, is probably fine, it's just waiting for the signal to turn on.
First, try adjusting the controls from minimum to maximum to see if you can get any life out of it.
If you have no power to the display, please state this.
If it does function - but not properly, please state this.
If there is no action at all, I suspect there is a fault on the main control board, or the motor run capacitor is faulty. With a faulty capacitor, you may get a 'click' when first turned on, and the compressor will buzz or get warm without actually cooling.

Hopefuly this will help, but please get back with more information.

Thank you.
