Red power, blinking red temp

Hi,

if the Lamp error and Temperature error lights are flashing red this means that there are two separate errors.

  • A flashing lamp light means the lamp failed to ignite. It could be a lamp driver problem or lamp failure. Replace the lamp to resolve the issue. If the issue is not resolved, then service the projector.
  • A flashing Temperature light signals a fan error. Turn the projector off and allow it to cool down. If the light is still flashing after the projector is turned back on, service the projector.
Goodluck..

Powerlite 82c Projector shut down due to over temperature sensor. Bottom Filter & complete interior were blown clean, bulb re-seated, bulb cover sensor checked but projector still refuses to completely...

HI Clay,Is the green lamp light on fully ie is not flashing.?

There is no reset for overheat, if the problem is like blocked vents when it is rectified the only reset is power on/off and the fatal red or flashing orange error condition should go away

I have seen a simualr model that had the lamp cover open not showing an error but stopping it from working, but I dont think it was the exact same model but worth checking the cover is on properly

How many hours has the lamp done, do you have two of these machines?

If you do please swap lamps between the two again because this sounds like a lamp issue although we should be getting the error code unless the counter has been reset without changing the bulb for new..are you 100% sure your not using 2 dodgy bulbs and thats our issue, because Im suspect on these lamps unless of cause you can swap one into another and see it light, if that is the case then its has to be lamp contacts or a board fault but i need to know more exactly the deal with "known good lamp" and exact lights

Ensure we are fitting the lamp correctly and the contacts for the lamp are clean and fitting tight. Please ensure we have checked the silly things like lens cover, signal is being sent and pc aint asleep etc

It is 2.30 am in Oz, I'm off to bed but let me know some more info if you can and I have a dig deeper at work tommorrow for you and see if i can come up with some solution because all i can see it being now in my sleepy state is bulb, bulb contacts, lamp cover, mis reading lights, silly stuff or a board fault....

Replaced bulb yesterday worked fine. Today light will not turn on. projector turns on both lights green for 10 seconds, then power goes red and status blinks green for about 5 seconds, then status light...

green green is power on, normal
then it tries to light the lamp, but it can't so the protection circuit comes activated.
you get red and green blinking

Then it goes to standby, red and off.

so something has happened to the lamp, or lamp ballast power supply.
Take the lamp out and check if all is OK with the 2 terminals in the connector, and the leads to the lamp are intact.

Failing that, I would suspect the ballast lamp power unit

Hello, I am having a problem with my hd72/hd6800. My projector is on its original bulb and has about 500 hours over 5 years. Today i was able to turn it on, but the lamp wont light up. I hear the fan start...

Despite the relatively few hours on the lamp, the fact is it's over 5 years old. It is not uncommon for a lamp to age and be too weak to fire. Replace the lamp, you should be fine.

Projector shuts off after about 45 minutes

Just a long shot, but...

I have an epson 9000i that did the same thing. Turns out that unit has a small fan (I think 60mm) right next to the power supply to keep it cool, in addition to the large fan that exhausts past the lamp. The fan runs non-stop as long as the unit is powered-up for two reasons I can think of - keep the power supply a little cooler, and the lamp a little warmer so there's not such a temp difference when it powers-up. Long story short, that fan had died. I replaced it with an aftermarket 60mm fan and it's been working fine ever since. Hope this helps.

Projector lamp flashes and the temp red led lights.

Purchased our76C in Jan, 2007. It is our second unit now that has had the same symptoms. When the unit starts up, the Power light is steady green as normal for a few minutes, but no image is projected. After a few minutes the lights do as you described. Both times Epson support authorized a new unit to be shipped out immediately. They said they had no known issues about it and didn't indicate what was causing the problem. Apparently it is not just the lamp wither. Also, the lamps both had under 20 hours on them.
