No Installation Disc

How do I get my computer to recognize the monitor when I don't have an installation disc?

Highest screen resolution is 1024 by 768 pixels. The picture is not good and the lettering is very bad.

The computer was put together for me by a computer repair company.

Here's what's shown in adapters: NVIDIA GeForce 6100

By the way, my old monitor worked fine. I bought this one used so maybe that's the problem.

You do not need installation CDs for a computer to recognize a monitor it is automatic. If you plug in the monitor on the computer it should display automatically. If you are having a problem with this then something else is causing the problem and not the driver. May I ask what problem youa re experiencing so that I can assist you.

Normally this indicates that the problem is with the driver for your video card. Secondly if you have another computer test that on the LCD. Thirdly please follow the directions below

    1. Click start then run then type in devmgmt.msc

    2. Click on display adapters and tell me what you see there.

    3. Give me the brand and model of your computer.

That being the case I would suggest you try a different computer on that LCD. If that same problem occurs then that LCD is defective. There are no drivers nor steps on the computer that need to be done except plug it in.

Installed Vista, screen goes green and won't accept full installation..monitor is the only thing that left to check as everything else has been repaired or replaced

it is highly unlikely to be monitor if you can't install. It will be more likely hardware or corrupt disc. remove all but essential devices and add in cards then try installing. Was the hard drive something you replaced or the motherboard?, could be corrupt hard drive or motherboard.

Dvi-dvi connection to a ati radeon hd4670 does not recognise monitor,ie no display. Using a supplied adapter dvi-vga and a vga cable their ia screen display but in device manager it is a generic monitor?

Was there an installation disc that came with it in the package? Some monitors require software to be used. If you don't have the installation disc, you will most likely find the necessary software on the manufacturer's support site: ProLite Support Driver Download Site.

If the monitor software doesn't solve the problem, try using a different DVI cable. More often than not, these types of problems can be traced back to a faulty cable or port. If the DVI port on the monitor is bad, you will have to use the VGA port as you are now or replace the monitor.

If the DVI port on the video card is bad, you will need to replace it. A good way to test this is if you have another monitor with an available DVI port you can connect to the video card.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
