Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer
The clothes have dark grease stains that stretch out in long lines. I can wash them out by hand. We removed a whole bunch of gunk on the rubber around the door, hoping that would fix the problem, but it still persists. Is wiered, sometimes no issues, and all of a sudden, an etire load is ruined with tons of stains. It seems only the outside clothes that were nearest the metal drum during the spin cycle that get the worst.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: grease spots and stains
Yes you can. Remember a front loader has no gearbox so no oil is coming from there? fabric conditioner, washing powder, and oils from our bodys can build up on the tub walls. All it needs is a good flush out. You can use dishwashing powder. Run it through with no clothes in you washing machine on a hot wash or a wash and hold a couple of times to flush it out. NZL

This is a cronic problem of front loader machines. The two bearings that hold the wash drum are dried out and then they over heat. The heat build up weakens the seal that keeps water in and grease out starts to leak and the problem just becomes worse with every load. A service repair man will charge you the cost of a new machine to fix the unit. You can replace the bearings and seal with parts from a bearing supply store and if you do, only use bearings from Japan or Germany. Your machine came with ones from China and that is why these machines are failing after 4 years.

Check that the dispenser is clean, it may be gunged up with black gunge, use soda crystals and put machine on hottest wash. If all is clean it could be down to seal gone in drum letting grease into system. Good luck, let me know how it goes.
