This does not work for Windows XP because Setup.exe on the driver CD fails to run (quickly opens a black command window and disappears immediately and samething happens with autorun also). The Linksys WMP54G driver manual, as located in that install CD clearly says that for XP, we should install the PCI adapter at first, and then choose to specify the CD path during the XP's driver wizard. But even that did not not work. If anyone has any clues, please share your experiences. Thanks. -Satya

On the Linksys adapters you have to install the drivers first, then install the adapter.
First, un-install the drivers and power off the computer. Remove the adapter . then boot the computer . Reinstall the drivers and power off, re-install the adapter.when the computer boots up it will find the adapter.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

No wireless adapter detected ad wireless button ot turning on

First u need to make sure ur adapter is installed correctly.
1. Click on Start-->Run-->Type in "devmgmt.msc"
which will open device manager.
Under device manager , u should find network adapters, make sure ur adapter is listed under it without any yellow exclamation mark or red cross which would mean that the drivers are not installed correctly or the adapter is disabled. In this case u need to reinstall the drivers via the CD.
2. Secondly u need to goto start-->run-->type in "msconfig"
which will open the system configuration window. Now under the "startup" TAB. Find the service for ur wireless card and disable it by unchecking it and then apply the settings and OK.
Reboot computer once
3. After reboot, goto start-->run-->type in "services.msc"
It will open the services windows . Find an option for wireless zero configuration . Rt click on it and start it.
4. Goto start-->run-->type in "ncpa.cpl"
It will open network connections window.
Rt click on Wireless network conection and enable it .
If it is already enabled , then rt click on it again and click on "View available wireless connections"
It will give u a list of all the wireless connections available in ur area.
Click on the one which is ur connection and then click on connect.
It might ask u for a wireless key if it is a secure connection. Enter the key and it should all work fine.

WPC54G wont install power light is on

The problem is that the PCI slot/socket where the wireless adapter is snapped/connected is not not compatible with the adapter. I suppose that the adapter is more more faster than than socket so it can hardly function as it should. I recommend that you return the adapter and get a slower version of the adapter. Make sure that the drivers are properly installed by removing/uninstalling any previous software from the system.

Wifi connectivity problem

It's possible that the driver for your wireless adapter is already installed. Check under Device Manager > Network Adapters if there is anything pertaining to your wireless adapter. Make sure that your wireless adapter (under Device manager > Network adapters) does not have any red X or yellow question mark.

Red X indicated that it's disabled , while yellow question mark will suggest that you need to update the driver. If your wireless adapter is working properly under Device Manager > Network adapters then you will need to configure it's utility for wireless connection.

If you are running windows XP, look for the wireless icon in the lower right side of your task bar and use it to connect to your preferred network.

Good luck and have a nice day!

Netgear 108 wireless usb adaptor

This is a driver problem, it may be windows generic driver that has installed; so if you have already installed the software, uninstall it and remove the adapter. Restart the pc, then insert the cd driver, but don't let it autorun, then re connect adapter and this time when it asks for the driver point windows to look on the cdrom for it instead of allowing the cd to run the installation.
