It started doing this new out of the box.

Purchased the xDVD8182 about a year ago. Unable to load any type of disc. I contacted DUAL's number off their website and reached a 3rd party customer service center. The representative I spoke to told me I would need to the unit to one of their service centers and it would take a minimum of 4 weeks. DUAL's website has no other contact numbers or addresses. When I asked for a contact number for a DUAL representative, I was told they would refer me back to the 3rd party customer service center. It is safe to say I will not be purchasing DUAL products in the future... with this type of terrible customer service.

My head unit has "ate"

Unfortunately, it's common for this type of slot-loading disc player to "eat" disks. You can take a shot at removing it yourself, but most car audio stores should be able to disassemble it and take the disc out.

Cant play dvd cd or even eject the disc that is already in .

actually it is due to faulty disk or dirty lens sometimes , when the lens is dirty it keeps on trying to read the data from cd or dvd and it just cant stop that infact stuck in it , or the other reason is faulty loading gear , in either case u have to physically dis assemble the player , remove the top cover some 4 or 6 screws are there in place open the top cover see the cd /or dvd and remove it physically do not force anything hard when removing the media and then if u can see the lens of ur player just clean it with a soft cloth with ur fingers in cicular motions very gently and u will see that it will play dvd /cd fine , the other thing if the loading gear is faulty or broken then u can ask me more on this

Pls rate me WELL !

Stuck DVD

im not resposible for anything here but try this. stick another disc in only about half way or as far as it will go up to that point. when the loading mechanism in the player sees another disc trying to come in, it pops up to accept the disc. it should spit your stuck disc back at you while holding the new disc in your hand.

Make sure the face of the radio is completely unobstructed. If anything blocks it, the disc will not eject. Another tip is to take a CD while the door is oped and insert it into the unit part way to "trick" the unit into thinking a disc is being loaded. Then unit may be confused and thinks that no disc is inside the radio. Also, disconnecting constant power for at least 15 seconds will often reset the unit.

Disc won't load

Hi, I had the same problem with my PMD-100NT. I found that there was a motor inside that, I think, was moving the laser head was skipping and the head was not moving into position. I hooked a portable to the external jacks and I am just using it as a monitor. I am quietseas4john@yahoo.com if you have any questions.
