In the list I would like you to click on -
Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) (March 2010) - ThinkCentre M58e
Now click on the blue file name - 53v6397.pdf
This is a Service Manual. It is also a PDF file.
The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.
(Although I would recommend upgrading to Adobe Reader 9, if that computer does not have this newest version. Protects against viruses trying to come through a PDF file, and works better than the older versions)
[ I'm using Adobe Reader 9.3.4. It took a split second for the first page to pop up. Took 3 minutes for the file to fully download. Suggest you let the file fully download before looking through it. I'm using a medium speed DSL connection ]
Computer on a table, unplugged from power. When you open the computer case, immediately TOUCH the metal frame of the open computer case, to relieve your body of Static electricity.
To open the computer case:

Processor to the top, the Ram Memory modules are to the right.
Page 90 shows an illustration of the motherboard.
Page 105 shows replacing Ram Memory modules.
This illustration also shows the location of the Ram Memory modules,http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-71963.html

Go to Page 133 for Types 7259, 7267, 7269, 7279, 7290, 7297, 7303, 7306, 7408, 7487, 7506, and 7514.
As you can see the Front Panel, (Cover), is tilted forward for some models. This brings the optical drive up to allow access to the Ram Memory.
Page 135 shows replacing Ram Memory modules.
Page 140 deals with replacing the motherboard. It also has a crude illustration of the motherboard.
The Ram Memory modules are shown to the left. The Processor is under a Heatsink, which is shown on the right.
(The Heatsink is illustrated as a tall rectangular block, with vertical lines on the side towards you)
This illustration also shows where the Ram Memory slots, that the Ram Memory modules are installed in,http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-71926.html
This is what the ram memory modules look like,http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1558873&CatId=2366
