Adjust the stitch width dial to move the needle when using the straight stitch. 5 is the center; 0 is the farthest left. I hope this helps. Change your fabric's position to center the stitching line below the needle, if you were trying to move the needle to the right.

Disappointing indeed. Did you buy it new or secondhand? If new, it is under manufacturers warranty. Husqvarna are reliable machines.

If it is used, undo the screws on the bottom of the foot pedal and you will see a wire track. Spray it with electrical switch cleaner. You can spray the button as well.

I hope I am correct in understanding you wish to find an owner's manual for a Husqvana Viking Selectronic 118 sewing machine.

This Husqvara Viking web page lists many of their sewing machine model manuals, with links to each manual by clicking on the blue right pointing arrow to the left of each model name and number:

However, I do not find any model named Selectronic in that list. The only model I found listed in that list with the number 118 is the Emerald 118.

sometimes the bobbin winder gets left closed, and that will make the machine run slowly and with no up/down button.

You need to contact your nearest Husqvaran Viking dealer. Their web site has a dealer locator, put in your zip code and your nearest dealer will come up. You should be able to order it over the phone.

The Emerald 118 takes a bobbin that is very close in size to a Singer Class 15 bobbin, but it is slightly different.
Don't buy green bobbins for a standard Husqvarna machine. They will not work.
Any Husqvarna dealer can get the Emerald bobbins for you.
