M3plugin.dll error

From what I have found it is due to spyware. Here is a forum that has some fixes. Be very careful when making changes to the registry. You could end up worse than you are now.

BTW, you aren't alone. There are over 40 other Fixya users dealing with this issue. Make sure you are using a good antivirus/antispyware program.

(This is very specific). For Windows XP.
Right click once on the start button & slide up to & left click on search. In the search windows under, All or part of the file name: type in m3plugin.dll
Than under, Look in: click the drop down menu & click on C: Click search. Once the file is found right click on it once & slide to & left click copy. Right click once on the start button, slide up to & left click on Explorer. Left click on the + sign next to Program Files. Left click the + sign next to MyWebSearch. Left click the + sign next to Bar. Right click once on the 1.bin folder & slide to & left click past. The m3plugin.dll file will than be copied into the correct folder. Re-start you're PC.

Fix 2# If you no longer have the mywebs free screensaver program and your still getting this error message simply go to run, type in MSCONFIG and go to, startup & uncheck the link that says c:\progra~1\mywebs~1\bar\1.bin\m3plugin.dll. Click apply than OK & let windows restart.

If this does not correct the error message post your findings.
If this fixed your troubles great. Please vote.

I followed these steps and haven't had any issues since:

1. Go to START menu
2. Select RUN
3. Type MSCONFIG and click OK (or press ENTER)
This will bring up your System Configuration Utility window.
4. Select the STARTUP tab.
5. Find M3PLUGIN, untick it, select APPLY and then OK
This will bring a popup dialogue box stating the following:

"You must restart your computer for some of the changes
made by System Configuration to take effect."

6. Select RESTART.

When your computer restarts, you should no longer receive that message.
