The bottom freezer drawer is stuck tight - today, have turned off the unit and will allow for complete defrost in the event the ice is built up - the only thing that is related to this is that the lever to activate the ice maker had been up for a few days, I pushed it down, ice was making - and then one day. my husband and daughter reported that the drawer was stuck - and it is really stuck, nothing will budge. family told me 'the only thing we did was get ice" really could use some help - if defrost doesn't loosen it up, I will call repair - but what can be done??? It sounds from what you described is a clogged drain line pull the bottom drawer out and look at the bottom of the back wall. see if the drain is backed up with ice if so use the back end of a rubber handle screwdriver and lightly tap the ice until it breaks up clean up the best you can around the drain and pour some hot soapy water down until to you hear it going into the drain pan.. a cup will do....>>the water comes each time the unit goes into defrost as the heaters melt the frost build up on the evaprator it melts and is suppose to go down the drain but if it is blocked then it forms at the bottom of the freezer floor..let me know if you still need the wiring diagram I can email it to you. Hope this fixes YA !

It is due to the defrost timer is not working. Once it is replaced, you should be good for another year. The information is given by the repairman. I have this replaced two days ago. The MayTag part number is: 61005988.

By going online, saw several posts re this problem. In short, the water drain was clogged and there was also a problem with the defrost timer. Service man blew out the drain line with compressed air and installed a new timer. Voila! Problem fixed. Interestingly, the serviceman found a wad of what looked like putty, but was sticky like gum in the drain area. He said he had never encountered anything similar.

first please check you water delivery chanel behiend icemaker, it may freeze up... second you water valve on bottom part on the back is duel( one valve for water dispencer and another one for ice maker) you have to check if it is a power going to that icemaker valve, unplug icemaker inside freezer and plug back now check for power but you have acting fast, ask somebody for help... and third it could be icemaker it self... good luck for additional questions please [email protected]
The manual defrost
reset procedure is as follows : ----
First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit
completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice
collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted.
Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to
main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both
fridge and freezer section. Then check, do you notice the same problem, if yes then defrost assembly board is faulty. But in most cases defrost reset procedure helps.-----------
