I have a PowerShot A620 and I accidentally deleted pictures I didn't mean to. I'm pretty sure no, but is there any way I can get them back?

Sam Anderson said to get in touch if I need recovery software, and I do, so how do I get in touch with him?

  • heljam Sep 20, 2008

I'm sorry to be a pain. I have a macbook and when I download undelete plus, all that comes up is a document with symbols in it.

  • heljam Sep 20, 2008

Thank you very much. One final thing: When I download the free option, it says I need registration numbers but I don't have them. Will I just have to bite the bullet and buy this software or is there a way around this?

Black lcd screen

First press the DISP or DISPLAY button to make sure that you just didn't accidentally turn off the screen. Next, have you downloaded the pictures it takes, and are they also black? If so, A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Power shot a620. screen is not showing pictures, all icons are there but screen is black? Help please!!

Sounds like you might have accidentally pressed the DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. It turns the screen on and off to save batteries. Turn on your camera, and press this button once again to turn the screen back on.

But if your camera is also taking black pictures,

Screen is black while taking picture.

Think that you accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

Powershot A620 Zoom Lever

Remove your batteries and look inside the battery compartment. Notice that there should be three small phillips screws at the bottom of the compartment. Tighten up all of these screws.
