Question about PC Desktops
Desktop PC would boot up and then shut off as if the power had been switched off. On some occasion'st, we would get a message saying launch "start up" repair recommended. We would then get a message saying "if repairs successful computer will restart immediately. So we click on finish and then computer switches off and will not restart for some hours!
Can you help please
Hi my name is gary i will try to help you out with this problem......
the first thing that comes to mind is the cpu could be over heating... this could be caused by the cooling fan not working correctly ..if this is the case what is happening is that the bios has a setting that looks after the temperature of the cpu and if it get to hot will shut the pc down to protect any further over heating and of course other components within the pc tower...to check if the fan is working take off the side of the pc while it is turned off you will now be able to see the large fan located on the mother board...now switch the pc on and see if the fan starts up ...if not this will be the problem ... just pop to your local computer shop and they can easily fit a new one for you.
also if the fan is matted in dust this could also cause the pc to over heat and shut down.....if so just turn the pc off and get a small paint brush (new not used) and clean down the fan and the heatsink.
i hope this helps
