Is your monitor SUPPOSED to have sound? Apart from the power cable and the monitor cable, if it is a monitor with speakers, there should also be an audio cable. So 3 total. If it has a mic too, 4 cables. The audio cable is normally green and the mic cable pink.

Most monitors don't have sound though, and the ones that do, sound crappy. So unless you just plan to hear Windows dings, get some cheap speakers.

19LVWk monitor has no sound, connected to Acer Computer. Computer does not have DVI connection, MONITOR DOES. How can I get sound from the monitor speakers?

There should be an audio plug(headphone jack) located next to VGA plug on the monitor. You will need an audio plug running from the Monitor to the computer audio plug...that will give you sound :)

ASUS VH238 LED MONITOR HAS NO SOUND, NEED SOUND DRIVER

The VH238 monitor does not need a sound driver, the monitor plugs into the sound card in your computer and that is what needs the sound driver. Be sure the sound/speaker cable is connected between the monitor and the computer. It should look like this. The cable was included in the box with the monitor and plugs into the jack on the computer where the speakers usually plug and is green in color.

I dont know how to get sound from the inboard speakers for my samsung syncmaster 171t monitor. how do i hook that up?

There should be a headphone jack on the back of the monitor where you would need a cable which has 2 headphone style jacks on either end, plug one end into the monitor and the other end into the soundcard or onboard sound jack on the pc ( usually green )

I cannot get any sound from my ViewSonic VA1912wb Monitor. I have everything plugged in the mute turned off showing 100% volume the green jack in back of monitor and green match on computer. No sound from...

You may need to load the monitor drivers.

I assume your PC sound is OK.

When you are plugging the green lead in the Moniotr / PC do you hear any noise from the monitor?? if not may be faulty.

Try plugging a friends set of speakers into the back of your PC.

I installed w1907 monitor all fine except now I have no sound

DVI is a hardware interface. It's a type of plug.

Does your monitor have speakers built into it?

On many computers, the output for the sound is very near the output for the monitor. Is it possible that you loosened the wire for the sound when you installed the monitor (plugged it in), or unplugged the sound altogether and plugged it back into the wrong place? The outbound sound hole on most, but not all, computers is green.

All computers have at least two places to plug in sound, most have 3, and the newer machines have 6. If you are unsure which is the correct hole to plug that sound wire into, you can play something on your computer that makes sound for a while (like a song) and move the plug from one to the other until sound is heard.

If you have 6 holes that the sound wire fits, you most likely have software on your computer that pops up and tells you were you have plugged it in.

If the speakers are built into the new monitor, check the monitor for controls and ensure that the volume controls are not all the way down.

All of these solutions are hardware solutions. Now, we have software solutions:

Open the control panel and find Sounds and Audio controls. Open that.

Check to see that nothing has "mute" checked.

Check also to see that the sound levels are high enough to hear something.

Good luck.

Lost manual for hp compact.

The speakers wires are normally color coded if the computer isn't ancient, the Speaker PLUG is green, if you are using the speakers in the monitor, then plug the green one from monitor to green jack on back of PC, (Microphone plug and jack is pink/Red).
If you are using other speakers 3rd party, 4.1,5.1, the hookup is different usually, But I think you need green to green, there should only be one green plug on back of PC, It may be labled sound out. but yours is probably green.
PS you also need to kake sure the monitor speakers dont require their own Power Supply/ AC adapter, Most of them do, while some desktop and monitor speakers do not just connect the cord ffrom monitor to green jack, "sound out". If this helps, thanks for the feedback

No sound from monitor speakers. Worked fine for 5 years. Can hear sounds when using headphones plugged into CPU. Hope you can help even if only to tell me I need a new monitor. Sincerely Dizzyme.

Hi...there,
First of all, check if your audio cable are still plugged into the monitor and pc output (light green) audio jack. If not just plugged it back in... Still still got no sound... Then turned off the monitor and pc. Unplugged all the cables from the monitor and pc, wait for 10 second till all the surged built up are cleared out. Then you can plugged all the cables back Monitor should have 3 cables, a audio cable, a VGA or DVI cables, and a power cord... OK! now you got all the cables plugged back in...
Turned on the monitor and PC....and a few seconds....you should hear window started. Still... had a problems....just get a external speakers. Have nice day!

No sound coming out of monitor

Dear user, you need a 3,5 mm jack cable wich has the same connector on each side.
Plug it into the monitor and the GREEN output ( stanadard output color since pc'97) and it will sound, maybe you have to set the volume in the menu of the monitor.

Best wishes.

Relisys Sound

CJ,
1. Check make sure the audio cable are plugged in from the monitor to the PC output audio jack (light green).
2. Open your on screen display and go to Volume settings. See if it set on mute or set to 0.
3. Turn of your monitor & PC and unplugged all the cables from your monitor and PC wait for 10 seconds and then replugged it all the cables and audio cable back. Then turned on you PC...
4. If it still doesn't work.. open the back cover see if the speaker cable are plugged in.
5. If that doesn't work...then your monitor AD board built-in speakers are defective.
6. Why not just used a external speakers, it give better sound quality.
Have a nice weekend!

No sound on new LG Flatiron Monitor

You need to get a set of powered computer speakers!

I always found that stand alone speakers are much better than the ones in the monitor.
