Trying to connect BA735 speakers to a MacBook? No sound? Are they compatible?

Those speakers were originally supplied with Gateway computer system that had sound cards with digital outputs. While some versions had analog and digital sound inputs, most often the speakers had digital input only. The on-board sound in the eMachines is analog output only, so the speakers are most likely not compatible with your computer. If you want to use those speakers, you will need to locate a PCI sound card with digital output.

It's a matter of the output from the computer's sound card (built-in) being incompatible with the speaker input. The card is sending out analog sound wile the speakers are expecting digital input. Downloading a driver won't help because that doesn't fix the root problem. You need to get speakers designed for analog input, or a sound card with digital output. As it stands now, your computer just can't use those speakers.

Since your using a MacBook there is no option for this Pci Digital Sound Card.

BA735 no sound but sound card works in analog mode.

this should be pretty easy to diagnose. both speakers have mini jacks right? if so, and you plug one pair of speakers in on say, port "A" and you get sound then if you plug your other speakers in on port "A" and you don't get any sound, the problem is with your speakers.

to localised your problem, try to plug your speakers to other sound source like mp3 player ,stereo system. if still no sound coming from it,your problem is within the speaker system. perhaps the audio power amplifier ic inside, need to be replaced.

DVD plays partial sound

Check your speaker connections it sounds like you have a 5.1 or higher sound system. 5.1 means left front speaker, right front speaker, center speaker, right rear speaker, left rear speaker and subwoofer.

Voices in movies all get channeled to the center speaker (you can usually hear it a bit from the right and left front speakers as well). If your center speaker is disconnected or not working, you will only hear the background sounds.

Altec lansing acs54 installation

Hello there!! jlee432
The 4.1 speakers you has, and output sound , depend on the sound card you has on your laptop. If you has inside the laptop a sound card 5.1 you whould not have problems get it sound, BUT you have to set on multimedia and sound for 4.1 according.
you only have one output sound on your laptop, so you have to use 2 speakers or buy a splitter and get 2 speakers sound.
you also, can buy a pcmcia sound card, 5.1 from creative labs, to solve this. but check if your speakers of course sound of.
good luck
