Try first removing the film and loading a new one, if the film is stuck or at the end shutter may not work.

Hi,

Initially, assuming a power problem, pls try to clean the battery contacts. In some instances, it may be necessary to scrape them clean or bend/stretch so as to provide more pressure to the batteries.

Otherwise, pls post back other indications, observed conditions.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Incidentally, I was made to understand that there is a shutter release lock that is built-in to the main switch, you may want to look into that as well.

Or could you at least perform a battery test? ( set main switch to S or C and partially depress the shutter button). The shutter will not engage if the AF is not solid in an AF mode.

Camera won't take pictures

On page 256 of the D-90 users manual it says that ERR indicates a camera malfunction that can be cleared by releasing the shutter. On my D-90 when this occurs, I have to turn the camera off to make the shutter release. Sometimes, but rarely, I have to remove and reinstall the battery to get the shutter to release.

The manual also says that if this error occurs frequently or persists to contact n authorized Nikon service center. I suggest that you contact Nikon tech support at www.nikon,com before you contact a service center to see what tech support advises. I have heard of people resolving this problem by upgrading the firmware (camera software). Nikon tech support can tell you if this will help.

This information works for my D-90 and could work for your D-40

Hi,I am looking for a manual for a EOS 1000N, EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 35mm focal plane shutter multi-mode AF SLR

You can download the EOS 1000N manual from
http://butkus.org/chinon/canon/canon_eos_1000n_1000FN/canon_eos_1000N_1000FN.htm

I don't see a manual for the lens, but you'll find brochures at

My shutter won't fire using 18-55 lens, either on Manual, P or Auto mode. It is set to AF. But when lens is set to MF, shutter fires. I tried switching to another lens and shutter is perfectly fine.

I could be that your lens isn't focusing. If the Auto focus can't find something to focus on the shutter won't fire. If you are shooting in low light sometimes it has trouble try shooting something that is well lit. also your auto focus point may be somewhere other than the center. there is a button on the top of your camera that looks like this [ ][ ] [ ] [ ]
More or less that will switch where your focus point is. If you look in the view finder and see a red dot when you push on the shutter button that is your focus point. push the above button until the red dot is in the centre. that may fix your problem.

How can I change the exposures, or f-stops on the Nikon N75 35mm camera?

That depends on the exposure mode. In the point&shoot modes the camera sets the exposure.

In P you can turn the command dial to change the exposure.

In S you turn the command dial to set the shutter speed, the camera changes the aperture to suit.

In A you turn the command dial to set the aperture, the camera changes the shutter speed to suit.

In M you turn the command dial to set the shutter speed, you hold down the aperture button and turn the command dial to set the aperture.

If you don't have a manual, get one from http://www.butkus.org/chinon/nikon.htm

Low battery warning

What type of batteries did you buy?

For digital cameras, you want to use batteries with high milliamp hour (mah) rating: "2500 mah" if they are rechargeable.

If you bought regular batteries, you want to use good quality. Look for the "e2" or "better for digital equipment" type.

Does the camera have a DC power plug option? Try taking pictures with it plugged in if it does. If it still malfunctions with power right from the wall, then you bought a bad camera.

Battery problems

Check the battery contacts inside the camera. Use a strong light, and if you see corrosion (black or greenish areas) on the contacts, rub them lightly with a pencil eraser until they are shiny.
