Dell Inspiron 8000 - USB2 Universal Host controller

When I plug my pen drive in the USB port I get the message, "HI-SPEED USB Device Plugged into non-HI-SPEED USB Hub".

I have Windows XP Service Pack2 installed on my Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop.

I know that the transfer from the USB port is slow, and is not at USB 2 speed.
Also, the device manager does not show EHCI installed...

I have not been able to figure out the solution.

Can you help?

The USB for my dell Dimension 4600 has progressively deteriorated. It started as slowing down transfer speeds of files from a CF to hard drive to now telling me I am using a USB 2.0 device in a 1.0 Port. All of my ports are behaving this way. I have done everything from re installing the usb drivers, the bios updates and most recently formated the hard drive and re installed everything. Nothing has worked. Help!

First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

Click "Start" button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter". Click "Continue" if necessary.

In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.

Hi i have this problem with my dell latitude d400,i did some installations some time ago and up till now i have not been able to use usb device on it,my external dock bay i cant use it neither so pls help...

Do you still have this problem if you boot into safe mode? If not, then there is a problem with one of your programs interfering with usb drivers.
If it does still happen in safe mode, then you may need to re-install your drivers. To do this, boot up normally, go to Start/control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager. Find your USB section, and right-click the USB Root hubs, and uninstall them. Then reboot, and windows will then detect the usb ports, and reinstall the necessary drivers for proper operation.
Hope that helps.
Cheers from NZ

Where does the internet cable go? there is an opening like something is missing on the ... dell latitude cp laptop will not connect my dsl internet service

The RJ45 ethernet cable looks very much like a fat telephone chord. It plugs into the female port.

I don't get paid for advice so if this answers your problem, I would appreciate 4 thumbs.

Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manage > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Delete or uninstall any usb root hubs. You may notice your mouse may stop working after this. Try a reboot and then windows should redetect usb devices. You may have to delete some other usb root hubs again if this does not work the first time.

Connecting a cpi to the internet ?

1) You can use a PCMCIA card (for example a Dell Fast Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX by 3Com) with a 'dongle' to connect to the ethernet cable via an existing card slot on the left side.

2) You can get a docking station set-up (i.e. Latitude 'C/Dock') which comes with the ethernet cable connection. ...pretty affordable used on the 'net.

3) If you has a wireless router you could hook a wireless USB adapter tp connect wireless to yout router.

Dell c 600 will no charge the battery

try load defaults on bios by goin F2 on dell splash screen. if still no go, remove battery and leave adapter plugged in. if no power while adapter only plugged in, replace adapter, if has power while adapter plugged in, replace motherboard( since you already replaced the old battery).
