Question about Audio Players & Recorders
I have the above Home Cinema system and it worked fine up until this weekend, now when I switch it on it loads up the disc thats in the tray and then the sound goes and the picture becomes corrupt with all coloured lines horizontally, it just stays like that until I power off and power back on. This happens regardless of disc or no disc in drive, also when the unit is on AUX input the sound cuts out after 20 mins...!
Can anyone help?

First, make sure it didn't get muted, or the remote's volume got turned way down. Next, it might be time to involve a technician who can check all the power supply voltages. Many of today's electronics have multiple voltage power supplys, 5 volts for logic, 12 volts for motors, and amplifiers usually have the biggest- maybe plus and minus 30 volts for a total of 60. There are hazardous voltages in there too, a switching power supply starts with over 300 volts. So don't lick it and see if your tongue tingles, that's only for 9 volt batteries.

Turn on the HT with no DVD. Press the following buttons on the remote: ENTER 8, 4, 2, 6, 9 ENTER
It will turn off. When turned again on it is a region free HT.

Protect mode will kicking whenever a fault is detected.
Causes that can start protect mode are:
Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.
Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.
