My laptop is connected to linksys modem router wirelessly, model number WAG160N. The problem is it keeps being disconnected after 5 to 10mins or worst its only a matter or seconds that it will connect then...

make sure that you have no electronic devices especially cordless phones near the route(including baby monitors, halogen lamps etc)r. if that doesn't help, try changing the wireless connection setup from wi-fi protected setup to manual setup and change the wireless channel to 11.
you can do this by connecting your laptop to the router via an Ethernet cable first and then log on to the GUI page using the internet explorer.(default is 192.168.1.1). if you need more instructions regarding how to do this, please reply to this post.

Wag160n dropping internet connection(on wired and wireless connection

This might be an issue with the router it self or the service it's getting from your ISP. If it drops the connect frequently, you can have a computer wired straight to the modem and see is the same issue will be encountered.

If connection through the modem is fine, you might want to upgrade the firmware of the router. You can contact Linksys to help you do this.

D-link dir-300 router always rebooting/restarting

This is the fix from d-link:
Router rebooting itself print.gif You may be experiencing trouble with a feature known as UPnP(TM). This feature allows Windows XP and Me machines to remotely open necessary ports for Internet Applications. You may try disabling UPnP (on the router AS WELL AS your computers) to see if this cures your reset woes. Log into the web-based configuration, access the Tools page, then the Misc. button. Choose the disabled button next to UPnP. Click Apply. You should no longer experience the frequent resets.Try disabling in XP first to see if that fixes issue.

To manually disable UPnP/SSDP in Windows 2000/XP/Vista:
  • Go to Start Menu-->Run...
  • Type "services.msc" and click OK
  • Find the service named "Universal Plug and Play Device Host" service
  • Click the Stop button to stop the service
  • Under Startup type, select Disabled from the pull-down menu and click OK
  • Find the service named "SSDP Discovery Service" and double-click
  • Click the Stop button to stop the service
  • Under Startup type, select Disabled from the pull-down menu and click OK
