Without the video card installed, I got a short beep, that means all is OK. When I put the video card, and the system is started up, I get the long beep, then stops for a second and then started the long and continues beep. The video card is new,,,,could it be related with the power

    thanks.

OK, it's a high frecuency long beep. I think if it's a motherboard problem I should get the beep whether the video card is installed or not...If the problem is caused by the video card, maybe it demands more current, the current power supply is 600 watts

Beep by motherboard are due to hardware problems. It's either the hardware is problem or it's not properly connected. Try check your RAM or graphic card weather it is fix properly. And also try to check your jumper connector. Sometimes one of the jumper connector may be damage and create the beep sound.

May I know the exact specification of the beep. Weather it is high or low frequency?. How many short and long beeps? How many times of beep? But through my experiences, continous beeps means there was a problem with your power supply or the motherboard. If when you turn on the power, the fan of the heatsink is functional, it is high percentage that your motherboard was the problem.

Ok.. try check this link : http://bioscentral.com/beepcodes/phoenix... .

Different beeps indicate different kind of error.

Hi, you can download a manual here:

http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php?pMODEL_NAME=AI7&fMTYPE=Socket 478&pPRODINFO=Manual

The fault could be the cpu, wrong type of ram, a faulty ram module
or a fault in the mainboard.
Check all the settings in the manual and the bios aswell.

Here is a list of beep codes:
Basic Beep Codes for ABIT AWARD BIOS Motherboards

  1. No beep at all - this means your motherboard is dead, either due to a defective or underpowered power supply, poorly seated CPU or RAM, or a dead-on-arrival board
  2. One beep - board is working fine
  3. One long beep then machine shuts down - faulty, improperly installed or missing CPU
  4. 1 short(Beep) System booting is normally
  5. 2 short(Beep) CMOS setting error
  6. 1 long - 1 short(Beep) DRAM ERROR
  7. 1 long - 2 short(Beep) Display card or monitor connected error
  8. 1 long - 3 short(Beep) Keyboard Error
  9. 1 long - 9 short(Beep) ROM Error
  10. Long(Beep) continuous DRAM isn't inserted correctly
  11. Short(Beep) continuous POWER supply has a problem
  12. A two-tone siren, generally caused by overheating or out of specification voltages
  13. Four beeps then machine shuts down. This is because this version of the BIOS will shut down your machine if no fan tachometer signal is detected on the fan header. Make sure you attach a fan to the FAN1 or FAN4 header or clear CMOS to reset to default (no checking).

Beeps on startup but no video and continues to have long beeps with no video

Check the the cpu, ram and video card are seated properly. If they all are, then the board is defective and will need to be replaced.

Anyways here are the common beep codes for your motherboard.. it might help you too.
1. No beep - no reaction, the mother board is dead, power supply problem, processor and or ram problem.
2. 1beep - board is working fine.

4. 1short beep - system boots normally
5. 2short beeps - CMOS setting error.
6. 1long 1short beep - dram error

Abit nf8-v keeps beeping when turned on. no video

How is the beep sounds? Long beep and three short beep or one (-...) or all long beep?
For the first, usualy the VGA connector is not correctly seated, so the motherboard can say it has no output device and beeping.
The last is usually memory problem. Try, unplug your memory board and replug it again, make sure that it is correctly seated.

Abit bd7m - no video, no keyboard, no mouse

Why does the BD7 board fail to POST with sirens? Is the mainboard faulty? A:
  1. If the CPU retention unit or heat sink wasn't installed correctly, the bad heat dissipation will cause P4 CPU over temperature and fail to boot up.

  2. Please check the black CPU retention is fully inserted into the holes in the mainboard. Below picture illustrates a bad installation- there is a gap between retention unit and mainboard.

    01_retention.jpg

  3. Please make sure the white nails were fully inserted and can prevent CPU retention unit from loosen.

    03_nail.jpg

  4. Double check the back side of mainboard. If the feet of CPU retention unit and white nails were correctly installed?
