It sounds like you might have ended a program titled explorer.exe. If this is true then when going to ctrl-alt-del in task manager under file > New task, type in explorer.exe. This should solve the problem. I hope this helps, if you have any further problems let me know.

On starting hp pavilion m7680y. I get: AOL error:

Open the Windows Task Manager (in WinXP) by pressing and holding down CTRL-ALT-DEL. In the Applications tab, highlight each program and click the End Task button. Once the Applications tab is empty, close the Windows Task Manager. Then, launch AOL again. (If you’re using an earlier OS, such as Windows 98, press CTRL-ALT-DEL to open the Close Program window, and close every program except Explorer and Systray.)

I had to download x-lite for a job at home. i did that then later it told me how to set it up, well it wouldnt work so i deleated it in programs, desktop, and where you go into windows. i tried to...

First open task manager by hitting Ctrl+alt+del at the same time and selecting Task Manager then look for x-lite.exe. If you see this in the process list then click the End Process or End Task button in the lower right hand corner of the Task Manager window. Then try re-installing.

If you're on Vista go to the control panel > Programs and Features
You should be able to find the program there and remove it.

In XP go to control Panel > add remove programs and remove it.

I have a pop up screen that says " the feature you are trying to use is on a CD_rom or other removal disk that is not available." I cannot exit this screen in any manner and I don't have a clue...

That usually means that a feature you are trying to use isn't installed and need to copy files from a location that it doesn't have access to.. like a cd or a network location.

You may be able to close that screen by pressing Ctrl + Alt then tapping Del one time. This should bring up a close program window. You should see some reference to the program you have open at the time of the error. You can select that entry by single left clicking that entry and choosing End Now or End Task.

Be aware that you may need to repeat the Ctrl + Alt + Del process if it doesn't close after the first try.

Once you click the End Now or End Task that it will more than like close the program you have open so you will need to save your work before attempting this.
