Horizontal dark lines, but i just figured out that it just displays on white spaces. When i take a photo the white wall behind me gets the dark lines but i dont or the people in the picture doesnt.

Should the sensor be the problem??? i dont think so because as i said, it just happens on white spaces.

Hi peter,
Video will not be able to display the dark lines becoz its samling rate is low and so it cannot display detailed image.

With your 6 MP camera , the reason for the images having dark lines is that,

The SENSOR present inside your digital camera may have been covered by dirt or it may have some lines over it. so it is obvious for the images to reflect that.

So i suggest you to check the sensor with your service center.
Else you can refer to this website for more support www.samsungcamera.com/customer/faq/cus_faq_list.asp

Hope this works...
Thanx peter.

I have had my camera for not even a year and it recently started having this problem. Whenever I take a picture, the object will look fine in the display, but when I take the picture it gets horizontal...

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that the LCD display shows a normal picture when you are composing your shot, but that when you actually snap the shutter to record the shot, the resulting image has nasty lines across it?

That would indicate that the lens is fine, but that the image sensor itself or associated electronics have gone bad. If this is out of warranty, then you're likely out of luck.

Display has lines and is gray

This is known problem of ccd imager chip failure in Canon A95 and ccd imager chip will be replaced to fix the issue.
Local camera repair shop will help you because camera will take apart in detail and soldering work is also involved.
Thanks.

The camera takes great pictures in dark areas, but once there is light sunlight or otherwise, there are lines across the pictures and the image is not shown, why?

Hi!
It's most likely a broken shutter cable inside the lens - happens to Samsung cameras all the time. You should be able to take videos in any conditions and pictures in low light conditions. The only way to fix this is to change the shutter unit with cable or whole lens unit. It should be expensive so I would recommend you getting a new camera, but this time not Samsung - they're pretty awful.

Sorry for the bad news!

White lines through image after picture taken

I was having the same problem a while back with my camera.

I chatted with someone from Sony online support, and after following their prescribed steps, the whole deal just got worse.

The lines got bolder, and instead of just being bands of light, they're now a dark, solid grey. They told me to send it in for repair, but seeing as I don't have my receipt, that's not really an option.

But apparently that's all that can be done about it.

Sounds like the image sensor is malfunctioning (common symptoms: distorted images with purple or green cast, completely dark images, flickering lines across the screen.)

Wierd pictures

This is caused by a shutter that is stuck open. Normally the shutter closes right at the moment that you snap the picture and allows the image sensor to record what it saw at that moment. When the shutter does not close as intended the image sensor cannot properly record the image. This is why here are the lines across your images. The shutter can stick either due to an impact knocking the delicate blades off their tracks, or due to dust or moisture contamination sticking them open or closed. If gently tapping does not free them; the camera will require professional repair. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
