If upgrading an existing PC to Windows XP from an earlier versionof Windows, Canon recommends a "clean install" to ensure reliableoperation of drivers. If a clean install is not possible, it isessential that drivers for your existing Canon Hardware are UNINSTALLEDprior to upgrading to Windows XP. After the installation of Windows XP,the drivers for your Canon Hardware can then be re-installed. Canon has released a software utility to uninstall USB and SCSI Scanner drivers for this purpose.
