Question about Maytag Atlantis MDG6400AW Gas Dryer

3 Answers

Maytag Atlantis MDG6400AWW does not stop on auto-dry. Heats fine and timer was replaced to no avail. Time Dry works.

4-prong thermo? I couldn't find any moisture sensor in the drum or in the lint area. Any help is truly appreciated as I have replaced the igniter since it wasn't heating and then this auto-dry not stopping issue pops up and the timer was not the issue. =(

Thanks!

I think it maybe the multi-temp gas thermostat.

The unit doesn't show any display for error codes that I can think of. =(

Maytag atlantis dryer wont shut off. changed the timer and it still wont move.

send the model number.if this is electric try this.put it on air fluff and start it,if it has heat your element is bad,it's grounding out, part of the element is touching the metal case around the element.if it just did this on auto i would say change the cycling thermostat but on timed dry it just counts down like a clock.i saw this once and the element was bad, grounding out.it was tricky i thought it was the timer also.

Why doesn't the timer count down? The dryer runs & heats but the Timer doesn't move. I replaced the Timer block but nothing changed. Is this related to a bad sensor?

go bak to 4 prong. why did u change it out? souns lik this isa 220 unit and not a 110? chk the book that came with the unit. lol.

My Maytag MDG6400AWW timer does not advance in the Auto mode. The clothes will dry but it will spin and spin for hours until you open the door. In timer mode everything appears to work normally

sounds like it is not sensing the temperature, which is the thermostat, here is a website that will help you out, #6 dryers basic, Good Luck Tim:

I have a Maytag Atlantis Gas Dryer that will turn on, rotate, but will not get hot and dry the clothes. A load of clothes in the afternoon, didn’t dry, tried again but didn’t dry – went to bed after putting on auto dry - next morning the dryer was still rotating and didn’t turn off. No hot air – only cold air.

Does sound like the timer, although the clock is moving, the contact for the heater element is burned out inside the timer, you probably have used this timed dry for your normal day to day use and worn out the contact, new timer required.
