Question about X2Gen MG19MY 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Display area extends beyond the area of the monitor

I have an X2gen 19" monitor connected to a Mac Mini. I've had the monitor for a couple of years with no problems. However, just recently, the monitor doesn't display the entire screen. After booting up properly, the screen suddenly expands by about 10%, and the desktop area continually shifts as you move the mouse. I've tried every screen resolution and refresh rate, plus all the different monitor settings. X2gen is out of business. I've also searched for a driver to download. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hopefully there is a cable loose or something like that. Try reseating the cabling. I think it is a monitor problem but it wouldn't hurt to try the monitor on anouther computer. It sounds lke a heat problem in the monitor scanning circuitry. It may be repairable if the picture is still looking good. Youll need a schenmatic and some patience and a soldering iron or a reputable service tech.

It sounds like the PC video color setting is at 16 instead of 24 or 32 bit color setup. You need to check the display properties setting on the PC (Right click on the desk top). Also try it on other PC and also check the VGA cable.

Possible Solutions: - Your HP is failing to properly detect your Monitor. ~ Solution ~ + Go to Start Menu and Right click My Computer + Click on Manage + Find and double click on Device Manager + Find your Monitor Device and see if it working "properly". If device is not detected, download the appropriate drivers for the Monitor. NOTE: You may want to do this with a working monitor in order to see whats on your screen! Hope I helped - donman92

Monitor area black

Please refer to the solution I just posted on the other problem posted in regard to this monitor.
--- Unfortunately, X2Gen has declared bankruptcy (see http://x2gen.com/) and there is no way to go back to the manufacturer for either support or warranty service. If you are still within a given time frame with either the retailer or perhaps through a credit card company, this would be your best recourse. My experience with this type of issue is that the hardware has gone bad. Particular with the nature of your problem, it seems that it is not a minor problem, and does not appear to involve drivers or other software-type fixes. If you could get a professional tech to repair it, the cost would most likely be more than replacement of the monitor. Sorry for the bad news, but I don't think there is a better solution.
--------------
Thankfully you have another monitor, so you are not left with no display device, but I am sure if you are using 2 monitors, there's a good solid reason and need for it. The other problem posted did not indicate that you were using 2 monitors, and so this presents one remote possibility. Try to switch the 2 out - move them between ports. If the "good" monitor continues to be good and the "bad" monitor still displays the same issue, I think that is absolute confirmation that you have a "nonnegotiable" hardware issue. If not, in other words, if you see something go wrong with the good monitor or the bad monitor improves upon the switch, there could be a graphics card/driver issue that we could work on.

Please post back if you need additional assistance, or this does not answer all your questions. Otherwise, thanks for using and rating FixYa! (Also, I would be very interested to know what does happen when you switch the two monitors... Thanks!)

X2Gen 19 inch LCD Monitor problem

Its the problem of the main display board. Not the SMPS. There will be another board inside. You have to replace the board or If some body may fix if you have spare parts of the board.
