Change thermal fuse

Thanks FixYa The best help was identifying the old thermal fuse. The new fuse is different. Also the purpose of the fuse is to measure heat, so the new one should go near the old one in the lamp cage not on the outside. I have a sony KDFE55A20 grand wega and had it to close to the wall preventing the lamp fan from cooling properly. Lesson learned. To change the fuse on this model, remove the back cover, then a metal bracket with three ground wires attached. Look a little to the right for a fan in a plastic cover, remove one screw down low and pull out fan and housing. Look in were fan was to see old thermal fuse attached to bottom of fan-lamp housing. Its metal with two screws holding it . Looks like a button. Just unplug it above then install new one in same place. I wraped the new one (black wires with a little chip attached) to the old one, replace every thing and thats it. Johan2000

You have a blown thermal fuse.Replacement requires removal of the optical block. Not for an unskilled tech.Replace thermal fuse part#191002393 and clean all the fans.

Sony grand vega 55" will blink green for three times than red blinking under the power light. nothing comes on no sound, no picture and no fan's are running. Tried to change the bulb, power board...

Your problem is your thermal fuse.It is located around the bottom of the compartment that houses the lamp. You will have to remove the lamp and take the bottom back panel off. Then you will have to remove the fan. I ordered the thermal fuse so I would know what I was looking for when I started to replace it. If you take your time and are patient enough you can fix it yourself. I fixed mine and it's working great.GOOD LUCK!!!

Changing thermal fuse and lamp

I would not recomend you changing the fuse even though it sounds simple. the new one is modified and has to be rerouted, for saftey factors if not installed properly the tv could get hot and melt things or worse. the lamp is designed for customers to change so go ahead if you need to chang the lamp only.

Pwer flashes 5 green 6 red

6 blinks is most likely thermal fuse failure. parts should be available through sony. thermal fuse is a 2 pin device under the lamp cartridge(looking from back) metal oblong looking peice that is screwed into the bottom of the tv. the new thermal fuse sent from sony will look completly different and as long as you cut the wires on the old one you can leave it in the tv and position the new fuse around the old one.

Sony kdf-60xs955, rear projection tv

There is a Thermal fuse under the lamp housing that opens up and Sony has a New style fuse to replace it with, it opens up one of the p/s lines to set code 6, replace with new thermal fuse and test. You will want a Skilled Professional to replace this fuse as it does require some dissassembly and removal of light engine to remove fuse from under lamp housing to put new one on side of lamp housing.
