Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I'm trying to fax with my new canon pixma mp830, and the fax won't go through. I managed a three page fax after sending twice. Then attempted an 18 page fax, and kept getting tx reports saying it had only sent 5, 9, or 0 pages. When I push the hook button (when I'm not faxing or anything) there are odd sounds (beeps and ghostly fax sounds) in addition to the dial tone. I'm thinking the canon machine is creating more noise than necessary, and weakening the connection. Also, I can't seem to find anywhere what the "Results" codes mean on the tx report. Mine keeps saying NG, which I can only assume means No Good.

Those noises you hear are line noises via your phone line, not machine related but they wreak havoc on faxing. first you need to replace the actual line connecting the fax machine to the wall. If this doesn't fix the problem then have your phone lines tested. also make sure your machine is set for digital or analog service, depending on which you have. Good Luck.
