Thanks - I have powercycled (again, but this time it worked) and pressed the re-set button; I don't have an orange light, but I still cannot access the internet.

    Further suggestions?

You need to reconfigure the router since you reset it. If you have a cable internet use the MAC clone feature of the router, and if DSL, know if your have a username and password with your ISP.

I suggest you contact Belkin tech support so they can walk you through the process of reconfiguring the router

  • You might have a corrupt TCP/IP stack. Try uninstalling/reinstalling TCP/IP via control panel -> Network Connections -> right click on your LAN connection, select TCP/IP and uninstall it.

  • Download the latest version of belkin in drivers from the website via connecting to internet via ethernet cable (wait are you able to connect to internet via cable if yes proceed further)

  • Belkin on some products might let you use either thier own software of windows WiFi connection software to use your wireless connection.

  • To ensure that it is fault of the belkin device, connect via the Ethernet cable to your router and see if your computer can get an IP address and maintain the internet session.

  • NIS if working properly will automatically recognize that you are trying to connect to a network and ask what kind of connection/ profile you are using example : Home / away / Office

Thanks for using Fixya

Hi,

If I may add after the reset...

To my knowledge, the Belkin MIMO FSD 9630 is a combination modem/router. With this in mind, it needs to be determined if Internet is available even before the input to the modem side. If the 2wire system is bundled with a telephone, try checking if you have a dialtone, if it is a dedicated data line, it would be needed to contact your ISP.

Of course the alternative is as the other posted, you have a defective Belkin FSD9630.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

When you reset the router you lost the proxy settings so the computer doesn't interface with the router. use your install cd for the router and go through the steps again. this will re-establish the connection to the network. when you go into your network connections menu make sure that your router is the default device. if it is a key coded network ( secure) re-enter the key code on the selected network. if it is unsecure you should be able to just click on that avaible network and the connection should be re-establish... please rate the solution....thanks

After you've decided to use System Restore to
revert your system to a previous state, start the System Restore Wizard and
follow the prompts. To use the System Restore Wizard, make sure you're logged
on as an administrator, and then follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, point to All
    Programs
, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and
    then click System Restore.

    2. On the Welcome screen, click Restore my
    computer to an earlier time
    , and then click Next.

    3. On the Select a Restore Point page,
select the date from the calendar that shows the point you'd like to restore
to, as shown below, and then click Next.

Note: - ****Select a date when everything was
    working fine****

    4. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection
page, verify that the correct restore point is chosen, and then close any open
    programs.

    5. Click Next if you are ready to
proceed or click Back to change the restore point.

    6. The computer will shut down automatically
and reboot. On reboot, you'll see the Restoration Complete page, and
    then click OK.

You may always undo the System Restore OR
choose another restore point after checking your system. To do the same just
open System Restore and make the appropriate choice, you'll have an additional
task; Undo my last restoration, on the System Restore Welcome page.

Caution: - Whenever you do a system restore remember that you'll
have to reinstall any programs that were installed after the restore point
    selected.

First thing to do here is to reset the router, to reset iot Press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds while the power is ON, then fater that unplug the power for 5 seconds then plug it back in, if you still have the setup CD just run it again and that should reconfigure the router back if still not working better contact Belkin support to so one of their tech can walk you through with that process in checking the router...

Hope that helps..........

It seems that the router is bad already , because if its still in good condition after you reset and reconfigure it that should be working fine now, so the enxt step here is to contact Belkin support for this concern.........

You need permission from your nephew to use his wireless connection. In this case he will give you the password, otherwise you need to get your own wireless router and Internet connection.

Dell dimension 3000 won't see wireless network

Hi, I've jst been looking on the web at the Mimo routers, you may find this article interesting, it may help even though its a couple of years old?

http://www.behardware.com/articles/614-2/wi-fi-mimo.html

Pay attention to part about 802.11n compatibility?
Perhaps try changing the IEEE standard on the router to 802.11g in the set up pages, as it may be set at 802.11n, which your older wireless card will not see.

As to the acquiring ip address message, try using a static ip address, here's a good guide:-

Maybe this will help?

Cannot finish installation (Belkin F5D8633-4 wireless modem router N mimo)

ok, obvious questions first:

Do you have a different modem from TALKTALK? can you connect to the internet through that?

if so, you may not have to set a username and password for the belkin router: just connect the belkin router's internet port to the talktalk modem and let the talktalk modem handle the automatic connection.

do you know what protocol the talktalk ISP uses?  it's probably PPPOE; make certain that your belkin router is set to the correct protocol.  if you just hook it up to the talktalk modem though, you probably won't have to specificy a protocol at all.
